Detail painting with my last drops of MM Metallics. Sorely missed product. What do you use as replacement for these colors? Inquiring minds, etc. . .

For years I've mixed my own metallics, but MM sure had some good ones.

That’s looking excellent. I’m on my last bottle of MM steel sadly. No idea what I’ll replace that with as I only brush paint and rattle can, so that leaves Alclad out

Gary, Thank you for the AK link. They have a nice range. I also only brush and rattle can, but may give that a whirl anyway. Dan

Gary, Thank you for the AK link. They have a nice range. I also only brush and rattle can, but may give that a whirl anyway. Dan The AK paints brush on fairly well, some of them dry out very quickly once the bottle is opened. I've had some unexpected surprises when I've gone to use a colour again - not!
AK aluminum is available in a rattle can, it's not bad, just make sure the windows are open and the fans are on.

Slowly building suspension. Gluing axle to tranny to hub. Car on blocks the correct height. Wheel holds the hub at correct position. Block keeps wheel aligned. The cloth under the bands to protect the paint. The whole mess elevated so I can deal with it all reasonably comfortably. Hopefully when dry the assembly will be sturdy enough to add the other suspension components. Meanwhile, allowing lots of time for glue to set up.

Did the other side. Reverse the above picture. Hopefully it’ll be solid manana so I can add the remaining bits.

Use me fingers and thumbs on an acoustic guitar just next to the building table at mine when I have to wait like that.
Loving the build but what gets me is the similarity and familiarity of the work environment. SWMBOed often asks me to tidy up a bit and maybe sort out the pics on the wall. And dust the rockets and space ships. Honestly. Its like home from home!
Maybe I should start a 'what's in your work room' thread rather than a 'what's on your bench thread'! Continents apart but bet we are all as 'messy' as each other!
Looking forward to the rest of the build.

Quattro, I like your thread idea. Also, what is listened to while building? Currently Scott Joplin here but cycle through old blues to Baroque to Squirrel Nut Zippers to. . . I state unequivocally that one of is not as messy as the other. The identity of the one less messy is left as a problem for the student. Fortunately I am not asked (so far) tidy up my area. Rockets and space ships are dusty, just as Wernher intended. Getting more stuff attached. More pix later. Dan

Very nice Dan! Love the extra work you did, the results are impressive! I cant agree more. You had me really going there for a while there Dan with the build. I wasnt sure what direction you were coming from. Being a scratch builder myself (my favorite part of the hobby), you were able to do a really nice job on the Eagle kit. I am very impressed. Great job. Kevin
