Pancho’s 1989 Hardee’s Lola

This is my first ever AMT Ertl Lola build. What a joy!! 😀 Lol. This kit isn’t truly accurate as I used a kit with the wrong engine and wasn’t up for that much modification. Truly I greatly enjoyed building this even though I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get it to turn out ok. I haven’t really puttied much before but decided to try to build a nice clean curbside for this particular car which resulted in a lot of putty and I could’ve used even more!! I’ll try again on the next one. Sort of a hodgepodge build with things I had laying around. Had some leftover belts from something (not quite complete, had some missing buckles but add some depth to the cockpit) and tried to recreate the aero wheels used for qualifying. I built this one simply because I saw the decals on Indycals and thought it would be a cool built. Also for my parents. They were big Pancho fans when he was racing. That’s enough rambling. Here’s the finished product.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I really did have a great time with this build. The worst issue I ended up with was knocking a wing mirror off at some point and never finding it. Probably got vacuumed up or something. Gone forever. Lol

Maybe Pancho only needed one mirror. . .🤣

Thanks! I figured he didn’t need that other mirror either. Lol. I also enjoy the old, simple schemes. I also have the sheet for Johncock’s 89 car, another simple scheme, and had so much fun with this one that I may just roll into that one.

Thanks Jordan! The curbside look was definitely for sanity purposes. I’ve seen the beautiful high detail builds on here and and I can’t begin to be able to do that. Have several more of these kits though and a couple monogram ones so I’ll be doing some experimenting in future
