#10 2021 Dallara Honda - Alex Palou

Starting with this build to commemorate Alex Palou championship. Goal is the car that finished second in the Indianapolis 500 this year.



I will build it from the 2019 Classic Racing Resins kit. I ordered the kit the same day of the race, but it was lost in the postal service; Calvin kindly sent me another one at no charge. Great customer service!

The biggest challenge of this car is the halo. Thanks to 3D printing tool, things are easier. I designed the halo from the dimensions of the kit.


Then, I printed it on a resin printer, also one template for vacuform the windshield and another template to cut the decals that I will put above the windshield.



Once printed, it is necessary to slightly sand the body before glued and add a supplement with epoxy putty for the front adjustment.











Finally I have done a pre-assembly for viewing the general stance. Happy with the results.

Another mind boggling build from the Spanish master!
A few thoughts…
Alex Palou is the Real Deal…fast, smart, polished, and poised…there is no way anyone can say that he didn’t earn his Championship…
According to Juanjo, he is virtually unknown in Spain ( especially when compared to Alonso)…
I believe we are entering a new “Golden Era” of Indycar racing…Penske’s purchase of the series; Palou, Herta, Veekay, and OWard, and the twilight of Dixon’s incredible career all combine for fascinating racing every weekend…
I also think the next generation Indycar will be designed around the halo/ windscreen and will be a stunner…
Keep at it Juanjo! Alex deserves it!

Back to this build, body painted with Tamiya acrylics, home design and DecalLab printed decals applied, acetate windshield glued over the halo, 2k clear coat and masked for painting the carbon fiber areas (90% black - 10% silver)

Juanjo, great job! The 3D printed halo and windscreen work is well done. Integrated like it came out of the box that way. The decal work is up to your high standards as is the paint. Impressive all the way around. Palou is a great talent, so close to being on the Borg Warner in 2021!
