.....take the Penske logos off older Die-cast and replace with Smoking Cowboy waterslide decals.
I sell 1/18 Smoking cowboys and I don't even know the best way to do the process.
Asking for a customer.
Thanks!

Calvin... since we're all getting older, please define 'older'. Minichamps era or Greenlight era cars?

Use Goof Off to remove the Penske tampo's. (Only on metal!) Dab on an old rage and wipe. This will not hurt the paint. The plastic rear wing I soak in Testors Easy Lift Off. (20 to 24 hrs) This will remove the old decals and also any paint. Wash well and repaint.

This would probably be a good YouTube video as its a serious question for anyone with these diecast

I'd be willing to buy and flip a Minichamps Penske and convert to the Smoking Cowboy logos. I think it would be a great educational video, plus I do sell a good amount of 1/18 Smoking cowboy decals. What is the fair market value of a Minichamps Penske, I see one on eBay for $250

Thats certainly gun slinger quick enough. I for one would LOVE a video on this!! As far as the Minichamps, thats maybe a bit high. You could do a Helio Greenlight cheaper. The best Greenlight donor would be the rarer 08 engine/ rear cowel removes car. But as mentioned its harder to find. If memory serves, iirc its a 700 or so done, not many out there. A older minichamps Tracy or Fittipaldi would work. Looking @ 100 for one. You could score a Hornish or Helio non cowl car cheaper. Thanks for the quick shipping.

Video can be done in 1/43 to save some $$. Still same principles.

Jordan Good point, but it would be a business expense and needs to be spectacular with a 1/64, 1/43, and 1/18 Smoking Cowboy conversion, which I would re-sell, regardless after im done. After some research and thinking, rubbing compound and a polishing wheel for the Dremel seems the most forgiving to get those Penske tampos off....

Speaking of YouTube. I recently got a new powerful computer (64 mb Ram) premiere Pro, After Effects and all sorts of other neat things. Eventhough I haven't posted any YouTube videos in a while, I had to take a break because my time needed to be focused on running the resin business, first and plus my older laptop and software was terrible. So I'm anxious to do some more, but NOT once a week lol

I have always used the Non-Acetone fingernail polish remover. I use both Q-tips and cotton balls. You have to use it very sparingly and go through a lot of q-tips and cotton balls. I also would use it very carefully on the back wing to just lift off the black Penske lettering and then I would cut a couple of strips of the plain white decal from Micro Scale and then I would place the smoking decal on top of that. A little quicker method but it can be dangerous If you do not do it patiently and carefully. One time I almost made the paint bubble up and rub off cause I was not patient enough for the removal of the Penske by the side of the cockpit. I was able to touch up a perfect white paint match.

Save the Q-Tips! I used to use fingernail polish remover too but found a 10 times faster way with less mess using the Goof Off. Dab on a rag and wipe. The Tampo decal is gone in one or two swipes. I have a short 12 second video on my phone that shows Goof Off removing the Tampo Valvoline decal on a resin Replicarz March front wing that I can send to anyone who wants it. Not sure how to post it here myself.

Tamiya has TS36 fluorescent red but I don't trust it, it's very hit or miss, it goes dull and looses its glow. But then other times it keeps its glow. I highly recommend Mr color Fluorescent Red for air brush. I only use it now and have good success with it and it's BRIGHT like it should be, but it does need to be clear coated with Mr color gloss clear, because it's the Florescent red is matt

I have always used the Non-Acetone fingernail polish remover. I use both Q-tips and cotton balls. Sparingly is right. Ive had some mixed results with the non - acetone. Best advice is what you said and make sure its good quality stuff. Had mixed results with CVS stuff. So be aware. I also wouldn't disagree with Stu. Goof off works. Ive seen it in spray bottle even. I would only use it on metal painted surfaces. Use sparingly. Elo on plastic. Strips off decals and most paint. Im intrested in Calvins video.

Btw: your paint booth rocks. Im thinking a good airbrush would be best and a similar paint booth deal is a possibility. You certianly have the set up! This video is going to help me, and alot others learn this process better. Smoking Cowboy cars maybe gone, but the demand is still there. . Theres a seller on Ebay. Forget his name. Has been doing these conversions for some time. Ive noticed the cars have been seliing at a higher value lately. Fwiw.
