Afternoon Fellows, Had some old slides finally developed onto DVDs for SCCA Regionals and Nationals Mid-West/Central Division at Mid America Raceway (MAR) near Wentzville, MO from 1964-1968. Photos taken by my late brother Charles "Chuck" Richardson, some suffered water damage when I was homeless and lived in my truck. I was not into formula cars at the time and even now cannot tell you the make/model of most cars I will attach but I sure love how those tire widths increased in four years. I have more slides to develop of the SCCA run-offs in Road Atlanta from about 1970 to 1975. I start with the Formula Vee's and I believe a Stangulini and an odd Weber induction onto a English Ford cylinder head? If you can identify these cars and their drivers please reply. Thanx for viewing, John.

Talk about a blast from the past! I raced here in 1964 in a GP Sprite. It was an interesting track and brand new (lucky for me). There were many trees all around the track and I recall that someone went off during practice and ended up wedged between two of them narrowing the car about six inches. I had my own excitement in the first race on Saturday morning. I got a tire off the pavement coming out of a turn. There was almost no grass along the track surface since it was new so there was just dirt. It had rained overnight so the dirt was mud. That caught my tire and I proceeded to do one barrel role ending upright on the wheels with the engine still running. I tried to get out but bogged down in the mud. I did get some cheers from the fans when I was pulled free. When I got back to the pits, then was mud on top of my helmet. This was the beginning of the roll bar era and mine, like many others, was short. Fixed that before the next race. Thanks for the memories of Wentzville. Jim

Jim, Thanx for the memories for you too. Rolling a Sprite, Wow!. I've got some Sprite shots, what was car number and color, hopefully I've got some shots of you and will post. Did you know Barry Benne he ran a I believe green Bug Eye in late 60's at MAR? I did post more sports car shots and spectator's of MAR on the Motor Racing Modeler website. For all: Here's some more Formula B, C, Ford shots from MAR. Please identify car make and driver if you can, Thanx for viewing, John.

Last but not least are some Formula A's. One appears to be an Eagle-Chevy, one a Le Grand (maybe) and something Unknown. Again, if you can identify the car and driver it would help us historically to follow these cars throughout their career. Thanx for Viewing, John

Afternoon guys, So many projects, so little time left. But my poor health is keeping me at the glue bombs and internet. Just wondering has anybody in the club ever done a Formula Vee project? Tires, wheels, suspension, engine and trans are all there. Just need a chassis and body, simple right, I like that #48 too, lots of color. Had all the pieces two years ago or further back and sold 'em with the other projects I wish I'd kept. And also what about Formula As, Bs, Cs, D's and FF lots of subjects out there! Let's Build! Thanx, John

Late Evening Fellows, Just happened to open the daily Pinterest link and came across an EXCELLENT reference link on Formula VEE race cars. This link will show you all you need to do to make an outstanding Formula VEE model. Enjoy, now to re-acquires those VW Bug parts I sold last year! Thanx for viewing, John

Afternoon Fellows, Got some more slides processed of MAR in 1968 time frame. The open wheel stuff I'll put on this site. We had some pretty good cars (and driver's) show up at MAR over the years. I liked 64 to 68 era best after that the money got involved and the Fun factor went away. But we still have the photos to remind us and posterity what we witnessed. If you can identify the cars and drivers that may help the historians. Is the #17 a Super VEE? Thanx, for viewing.

The yellow #42 is a LeGrand. The red, white and blue # 58 is a Lotus 38. According to the Oldracingcars.com website, this could be one of several Lotus 38s: 38/4, 38/5, 38/7 or 38/8 as all of those cars ran in FA/F5000 and a couple were drive by Missouri area drivers.
