Another transformation from an old Merit kit, helped by designing and 3D printing some parts. This is the car, a Ferrari 801 developed from 1956 Lancia Ferrari D50, finished 2nd at the 1957 French Grand Prix, driven by Luigi Musso. Starting from the body parts, fenders removed, 3D printed sides fitted, nose and tail extended with styrene. A characteristic part of this car is the tail with parts joined by riveted seams. Rivets made with a rivet maker tool on 0.15 mm thick aluminum sheet, subsequently cut and adjusted to the body. Front and rear suspensions are also 3D printed parts, taking as reference the parts of the kit. Wired wheels from 3D printed rings, including 0.3 mm diameter holes for wires and a jig to center the hub. Tires are also 3D printed. Another 3D part easier to make with 3D printing than with scratch build were exhausts. Drawing one, and simetrically made the other in one click. General fitting test, waiting for painting.

Great job on the Ferrari. A nice integration of kit and 3D printed parts. The weathering is very well done but shows well for how a period car would take the track.
The Merit family photo is really great.

That is great work. I love the wheels.
FPPM are doing the Streamliner W196 with engine detail, so maybe your W196 will have company soon.
