Hi all,
I'm working on a full detailed build of Tamiya's 1/20 Lola T93/00 Indycar - driven by (of course!) Nigel Mansell. All added details are scratch built as I could not find any aftermarket detail sets for the kit. I did purchase the Museum Collection decals which are a big improvement over Tamiya's super thick kit versions.
There is a surprisingly limited number of good original spec photographic references available for this car, considering it was such a milestone for Mansell. I have managed to pick up a couple of books which were of some help and found some pictures online.
The engine is basic in the kit but does allow scope for super detailing, I added electrical wiring, exhaust details & heat protection, hoses, accelerator cable and brake cables. The kit supplied suspension struts were broken up and replaced with scratch built versions with separate springs. Carbon detailing was added to the brake cooling ducts and engine covers.
The monocoque around the driver has a flocked head protection surround, carbon detailing on the inside and remodelled fuel filler cap. The front suspension will be scratch built
