Hello,
I'm Ismael "the Corvette guy" Gonzalez from other modeling forums. Just joined here. Big Indy fan but surprisingly very few open wheel models done over the years. Hope to learn and share with you all!
Thanks, Ismael

Welcome Ismael, I've long admired your work. For those unfamiliar with Ismael's work, you're in for a treat

Thank you Jordan and racermagic! Hi Michael, happy customer here! Very nice tribute C5R from 2001 Petit LeMans race! Thank you John! I'm honored I would like to share with you some of my "closed wheel" work over the years. Needless to say, Corvettes are my thing, especially factory stock replicas but I'm expanding my interests. Resin Corvette SS My all time favorite car both in 1:1 and scale, my all time favorite model, my best model ever. Built in 2005 2006 Petit LeMans C6R chassis# C6R-004 Built in 2007 Quick Skins 1/24 resin 1986 Corvette GTP Road Atlanta pole car built in 2008 Revell C7R converted to 2016 Daytona winner. Finished in 2018 (scratchbuilt mods) 1999 Daytona Debut C5R #2 Built in 1999 Ron Fellows 2007 Mosport C6R Finished in 2018 (Heavily modified Revell C6R) ...and the proverbial black sheep in my Corvette collection: As raced finish 2016 LeMans winning Ford GT built in 2019 I'll share my few open wheels in their respective areas. Thanks, Ismael

I think the SS is my favorite, too. They all stand on their own well. I like the weathering on the 2016 Daytona winner, nice to see different techniques on these. Great work.
One question, do you print out small copies of posters pertaining to the subject to put on the wall before photographing? That is a very cool touch!

Ismael: Welcome! It is great to have you here. I have seen your Gurney Eagle in a magazine and was blown away.Excellent work! I know it’s not a Vette, but rather a first cousin, but have you ever built the Cerv-1? I no of no kits that are even close, but it would make an extremely cool build... Your thoughts? And thanks again for posting your beautiful cars! Tim

Thank you all for the warm welcome! One question, do you print out small copies of posters pertaining to the subject to put on the wall before photographing? Jordan, that is exactly right. I try not to repeat between models. Many of the printed pictures are my own as I'm a photographer in a parallel universe. Sometimes I put pictures of other models as wall art I get to combine two hobbies: scale models and photography. Hi Tim, Ohh the beautiful CERV 1! That car is important in Corvette history! It was instrumental in the development of fuel injection, suspension components and other things. It was Zora's test bed / toy. I'd love to do a model of that but it may take forever to scratchbuild that beautiful body. Thanks, Ismael

So many people don't know about the CERV1 - I was so thrilled to see it at Daytona last year. Would love to have seen what it could have done at Indy.

The Cerv I sat in Briggs Cunninghams museum for many years, no Briggs wouldnt let me get in that one, it and the CervII GS are just beautiful automobiles and so many years ahead of their time. Yes, Michael, I would have loved to see it at Indy and what it could do. Unfortunately those years were the years Factory Racing cars were banned by GM. A lot of the technology was used by Jim Hall in the Chaparrals and He also patented a lot of it too including the Rear Wing! It wasnt a money making deal, just a claim to the design, can you imagine what it would have brought in $$ wise? Even Toyota Corolla's had wings at one point. Hmmmm Toyota paying Jim Hall and GM for putting a wing on a production car !!!!! Lol. Chris

I believe that Tamiya-Mokei made a model of the CERV-1 (possibly motorized). I heard about it 15+ years ago but I have never found one for sale anywhere.

I've only seen it in pictures of the Tamiya Museum. I think it was either motorized or a slot car and represented the early version of the car which was wider with narrow tires. Not sure about the scale. *EDIT* Found this online picture from the Tamiya Museum
