I bought these masters from Gary Doucette's friend a couple of months ago.... Ideas, suggestions, comments all welcomed. I need to refresh my memory, but if you have any knowledge let it loose!

I believe the grey one is one of the Demler #99 cars. I'm thinking Hurtubise drove it. The bulge behind the rear wheel is an oil tank. My apologies if you knew that.

Pretty sure the top one is the 1961 Hoover Motor Express car of Bobby Marshman. Also pretty sure Kip is right about the Demler. Hoover car with Don Branson was 2nd fast and Demler with Herk was 3rd fast and sat on the front row with Eddie Sachs in '61. Branson car was #3 and Marshman car was #31. Marshman's rookie start.

Hi All, The two cars are the Hoover Motor Express Spl. and the Demler Spl. Gary made kits for the Hoover #1, which Tony Bettenhausen drove and the Demler #99. I made decals for both of those kits. Michael made decals for the #31 Hoover car driven by Marshman. Hope this helps a bit. Best, Gary

The Gray body is the Demler Spl.built in 1958 by Quin Epperly Started 25th & fin, 2nd driven by Geroge Amick This car had NO oil tank on the back. 1959 & 60 driven by Paul Goldsmith finished 5th in 1959 and 3rd in 1960, in 1961 driven by Jim Hurtubise started 3rd, led 35 laps and finished 22nd. 1962 the car had been reworked by Hurtubise and the handling was poor Crashed twice and was a DNQ. 1963 the car was driven by Bob Harkey and was #55 It was a DNQ. I ask bob about this car and he said it was the worst handling car he ever drove. The car came back in 1966 with a turbine engine installed and was a DNQ. The car has now been restored to the 1958 George Amick version It's best finish at Indy. One of the interesting features is the Grill which had the owners initials NCD. The other body was also built in 1958 By Quin Epperly for Hoover Motor Express and was to be driven by Rex Easton as #23 with a white oil tank on the side, After Tony Bettenhausen wrecked his Ansted Spl. he was hired by the Hoover Team and the number was changed to #1 and the oil tank was removed from the outside. He started 15th and finished 4th. 1960 the car was driven by Jim McWithey as #16 started 32nd and finished 29th. 1961 The car was entered as a back-up for Don Branson after he Qual on the front row this car was then offered to Bobby Marshman and renumbered as #31 Bobby qual, 33rd ans finished 7th winning co-rookie of the year with Parnelli Junes. in 1962 The car was driven by Bruce Jacobi and was unable to get the car qualified as the engine blew as he crossed the finished line and ended up as the 39th fasted. This car had a Chrome Headrest-Fin starting with the 1960 version, the Bettenhausen didn't have the chrome headrest-fin.
Old Photos Walt I hve not seen this car at any Vintage meets
