Back to this quiet corner of the forum.
I do not post everything I do but anything needs converting or unusual I figure is worth sharing.
Not really been doing much of late other than dealing with the passing of my Dad in Portugal last month.
Not a Covid related death but really had to go thru the mill working thru all the restrictions.
The logistics of dealing with a funeral there and all the 'admin' that goes with it,
and then back to imposed isolation in London for 14 days along with sorting all the 'admin' out here.
Not really had time to focus on anything else until these last few days.
Sat down and went for it on a March 743 I will paint up as the Gunnar Nilsson early season 1974 car.
It almost ended up being something else!
I started with my usual way of drawing up a plan and elevation of the car to scale and test fitting what I had.
Basically converting from a 742 resin and metal kit.
So I crack on with this nose piece in styrene and then realised I had eyeballed the dimensions
from a 732 described as a 743......
At that point I almost thought about just getting on and doing the early seaon Giles Villeneuve Atlantic car from 1974!
Took a deep breath and did the nose to a more accurate size saving the bigger one for another project.
Given everything hanging off the car and engine is smaller than an F2/F Atlantic I went and got on with
doing everything from styrene at the front and rear of the model.
But I have been a bit silly. And impatient.
There is not much reference of these cars or their engine knocking about but what I found
was just enuf given this version has an engine cover to hide most engine block omissions.
I know I should paint the bits before adding them but just got so carried away as I pieced
together what these things were supposed to look like as best as I could tell.
A few hours later and I had gone so far I just thought I will have to just get on with it.
Not ideal but I will get by.
It is so small though.
I will sort out the body and make the rear wing next and hopefully it will look OK once I have some paint on it.
