So I recently decided to try out Terry's 3D printed IndyCars because I needed to be able to produce something from the modern era. I have never been one that customizes well and I am in awe at what guys like Calvin can do to sculpt a car. As I result I grabbed the newest style car to try my hand at producing I version I would be happy with putting in my case with my Tameos and Ampersands. For my first shot I am pretty pleased with the result.
The good thing is that the car is pretty much self contained so most of the work comes from painting and decals. I did need to fiddle a bit with Tire and Wheel combinations (I used wheels and tires from a mix of sources to effectively go over the hubs that were already part of the 3D printed car. I am definitely not used to the delicate nature of the piece but figured out my issues and tried to make some corrections. As a reference, I like to call out the stuff used for my building and they include the following:
Base Car: Terry at indycarmodels on ebay.
Primer & Paint: MCW Finishes Light Gray Primer and their #2100 Bare Metal. Both are lacquer based and if you have never used their stuff before, it is pretty nice. Already thinned and a large listing of paints available.
Decals: Michael ay IndyCals of course.
Clearcoat: Gravity Spain 2K Clear.
I have another one of Terry's cars I an playing with in which I have stripped the suspension parts off the front and plan on casting some replacements from another Brickyard Models Sato car I have. I have never done such a thing before, so all new stuff.
