Noob question about the AMT Lolas

Hi all,

I've ordered some Indycals decals for Tune Up Masters '89 Lola, and I'm putting together my shopping list for when I hit the vendors at our club's next contest. Are all of the AMT Lola kits the same, or were there variations, like there was with the Revell Reynard kits? If there were differences, which kit will I need to keep an eye out for to build Granatelli's car?

Also, is there a specific kit I need to find to build Swede Savage's '73 STP Eagle, or will any AMT Eagle do?

Yes, there were variations in the AMT Lola kits. Within the T8800 cars (Kmart, Provimi and Amway) you have to pay attention to the engine cover. The Kmart car has the engine cover for the Chevy engine and the Provimi / Amway kits have the Cosworth engine cover. The T8900 kit (Havoline/Kmart) has some different parts. There is different bodywork (rounded nose, different radiator exits,...). Also, with the Amway kit, the parts in the box can be either of the for the 88 or 89 specs. So far, I haven't been able to figure out a way to know which parts are included in the box until you actually open the kit.

HI Ben,

I am not sure about the Swede Savage build. I do have one AMT Patrick Eagle kit, which is the car with Johncock markings, and I will be doing Swede's sister car from it. I do not have any other AMT Eagle kits as of now, but I am awaiting the arrival of the AMT Jorgensen Eagle kit from Tom/professor.

Russ/oldcalhoun (where is he??) would definitely know, he did the Johncock build for MRRN. He used Bill J.'s conversion with the AMT kit, IIRC.
