Hi Everyone
I have been reading some posts about the old AMT PC6. Some people mention the problem with the cowling separating.
Calvin mentioned putting a strip of plastic on the bottom of the seam, this does work very well, but I have another solution from the days of the Dinosaurs .
Take a bottle of liquid plastic cement not the quick drying stuff we use today although it may work just as well. I've been using the Testors in the Black odd shaped bottle #3507. Pour about 1/2 of the bottle into another small glass bottle with a metal screw on cap. Cut some sprue into very small pieces and pour a bunch of it into the glass bottle. The amount is not critical and cap the bottle and let it melt. If it is to thin put in some more sprue if it's to thick pour in some more cement. You want this stuff fairly thick.
Take the semi liquid plastic and cover the bottom and to the sides of the seam and let it dry. This stuff is very thick and it will have strings so watch out that the strings don't land where you don't want them to. Do not spread it on thick remember this stuff is still glue and you do not want to melt the model. after it dries you can keep putting on layers of it letting it dry between each layer.
Now your filler is the same material as the model and it's very strong. Of course you can use it any place on a plastic model that you want just remember this stuff can make a real mess of a model if to much is used and not allowed to dry until it's hardened.
Try it on some junk to get a feel for using it. you might be able to pour some thinner stuff in a mold and make some parts.
