Hi everyone I 'm trying to find out who made a resin McLaren I bought 2 or 3 years ago. I'm not sure if it was a semi kit or if most of the metal was removed from the kit before I bought it. The tub , the upper body, the nose ,wings and what there is for wheels are in tan resin, the only metal is the first part of the exhaust. The rear wing is about 0.865 front to back and it appears to have been shortened as there is 1 slightly tear dropped shape mounting slot 1/2 inch from one end. The tub has the more or less flat sides with the sharp bend just aft of the center point. The sides are not curved like the AMT. I hope this is enough information so some one can tell me who made it. I have all the parts I need to make it from several sources. Thanks Ralph

Sounds like a Bill Jorgensen "kit" to me! That tub shape is correct, however. I am preparing a couple of AMT McLarens to show how to improve their accuracy a little without spending any money. I have a lot of McLarens I'd like to build but I can't afford a $100+ resin kit for all of them!

Hi Brian Thank you. That's who I thought made the thing. This one is going to be David Hobbs Black Label car and one of Kevins Penske McLarens will be a second Black Label car. The car is a former Penske. The only reference and photos I have found are 2 pit shots from the 73 California 500 it is #74. Unfortunately both of them are from the right front . Both cars were from Roy Woods Racing. The #73 was The Hobbs car and the #74 was the John Mahler car. Both cars are Black ,Red and White, paint trim is some what different. Let me know the changes you are going to make on the AMT McLaren . I have more of them to build as well.

Ralph, give me a couple of days to get some decent pictures taken! Funny enough, I'm doing Hobbo's car #73 as well, along with Mike Hiss' 3rd place qualifier from '74.
