Love the paint and those pipes/stacks out the top of the hood. The figures add a bunch, too. Nice work and thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for looking. Yes, this is the Ted Horn/Bo Huckman car. The figures are a mishmash of Immense Miniatures, Pre-Add, Penelope Pitlane, and scratch built body parts. Matt

Wow, that is impressive! So what does the nail do? Keep the body from flying off the roof?

Ha! Yes, that is exactly what that nail was doing. I was shaping and grinding the body shell on the balcony, and it's quite windy up there. Somebody getting hit on the head by an ugly piece of plastic falling out of the sky might not appreciate Indy cars as much as I do.

Impressive work, especially the grill!
Did you modify an existing body or do it from scratch?
I was even more impressed when I scrolled down & saw it's a slot car racer
Really well done sir!

Thanks for the kind words. Jim, the body was scratch built from scrap pieces of plastic, mostly PVC pipe, with some beer cans and other scrap items thrown in. A lot of cutting and grinding.

Amazing build 1/32 scale? That grille is outstanding

Thanks jj66, yes this is 1/32. The grill is .011" brass wire soldered in a brass frame.

Man...GREAT job on ALL the fab work you did. I think using PVC pipe is a GRAND idea for a slotcar. That's tough stuff and it can take an off track excursion pretty well. That grill you fabbed is killer for sure...

I think using PVC pipe is a GRAND idea for a slotcar. That's tough stuff and it can take an off track excursion pretty well. Thanks for looking guys. Gary, you're right, the PVC pipe is a tough material. The slot car bodies I've made with PVC have all held up very well. Another quality of the PVC pipe is that it is essentially "cost-free", as I find off-cuts laying in the road near construction sites. This car body is made for the most part from scrap materials that were discarded as trash - pipes, placards, tubes, rivets, pins, nails, washers, wire, beer cans, etc.

That's really outstanding! I'd be afraid to run it as a slot car, though, especially after all that work!

I'd be afraid to run it ..., especially after all that work! I bet you never said that about a 1:1 race car, no matter how nice it looked!

I'd be afraid to run it as a slot car, Thank you for looking bobbyc. The car runs great. It's fast, smooth, and easy to drive. I drive it quickly but I'm not chasing the ultimate lap time - it wasn't designed for that.

I'm really late to this thread, but where did you get your decals? I'm working on the resin version but from my study I don't have enough of the numbers to get it done. I'm going to try to scan and make copies, but prefer a good set to finish it

I'm really late to this thread, but where did you get your decals? Hi cobra276, sorry I can't help with decals as there are no decals on my model, everything is painted. I couldn't find decals either and I don't know if decals are available for this car.

Around 2013 Gary Doucette made a 1/25 scale model of the 1935 Miller Ford entries at Indianapolis. I think he did produced versions for the four cars that did make the race. His kits included decals, but I do not know who supplied them. Gary is gone now but someone on this forum might know who made the decals for Gary. Good luck, Jim.

Looking at this beautiful model again it struck me that there is a solution for getting the numbers done.
Then scroll down and up pops the decal question.
Do not want to go on and on about these things but a cricut would do the white numbers quite nicely. The black as well for that matter. Any colour if the right adhesive sheet is available.
Used my inkjet all too often to do decals on my models but white was always an issue. I took to highjacking dry rubdown custom artwork projects my friends worked on to get my stuff done. Also a valid method.
Sure you probably know someone who has a cricut so have a chat with them. Should take no time to do.

Gary Ducette often had his decals done by Gary Sleeper--now Circle Track Decals. Don't know if Gary Sleeper did this car for Ducette or not. Ducette had another person who also did decals for him but I can't remember his name. I highly recommend Gary Sleeper . He has done numerous Indy car and sprint car custom decals for me and they are great,
