I started with the Mobile Launch Platform because it's square and looks easy. This is the top skin with a 12" ruler for scale: Again, I couldn't leave well enough alone, as i thought the flame pit looked a bit plain: So I added detail out of .060 square strips: (the MLP walls will get the same) I backed the sheets with 1/8 form board left over from my train layout: I assembled the walls first then added the top: I added internal reinforcement made from 1/4 balsa. When it's all done, it will get a bottom of foam board. FYI, the rocket sits in the opening and the LUT in the open space below it.

Mark, glad the photo thing resolved itself - weird!
I love the LEGO Saturn rocket and would have loved one myself. Never knew about the base but what a cool addition to the project. Looks like yours will be able to withstand the weight.

More progress. It is moving along slower then I thought it would. If you think a plastic or resin model takes a long time, try waiting for Elmers glue to dry! Sides of the MLP finished: I totally FUBAR'd the first 3 levels, so I thought I'd try a different way. I made a jig out of a carpenters square and assembled 2 sides. I then joined the 2 sides with the levels. It worked really well and I think that's how I'll do the rest. There's only 14 more...

Mark, great problem solving. Really like this one as I think it is going to really make for a great display.

I have rebuilt the first 3 levels. I totally messed up the first try, but this came out much better. I used the same JIG idea I used on the upper sections. The white parts are sheet plastic I used in place of the paper parts. Because of the current state of things, the replacement could only be printed in red. My original is a kind of a burnt orange, so I'll need to repaint this section.
