OK, so the engine in the AMT Old Calhoun kit is undersized. The Etzel engine is awesome but doesn't really[/i] fit into the AMT kit........
How about the Offy from the later AMT (turbo-'70s) kits? I found a glue bomb with this engine and I am going to see how it measures up to the Watson AMT engine, Chris' engine and.........
What do you think?

Any ideas on this engine being used in the AMT Watson kit? It appears to be a different size to start with.
Someone has to have an opinion, or at least want to tell me to take a flying leap..........

Mongo,
The only accurate Offy Engine is the one in Etzel's Speed Classic Kuzma......the rest are under sized....even the offy in the Rislone Special, 1968 Winner. The Offy's in the mid 70's AMY kits are missing too much detail to be any used in other cars...sorry to disappoint oyu..
Best to you
Russ

So basically, we have no option for a good Offy in the AMT kit, since Chris's engine will not fit in the AMT Watson? I guess it isn't THAT big of a deal, but I was hoping a solution to the problem could be found. Mongo

Mongo,
Just do what I did with the 1960 Winner, build the kit Offy as good as you can, detail the heck out of it, and few will notice the difference. That's what I did.
Best to you
Russ

Best to you Russ Hi Sheriff Bart! Well I got ahold of the wrong can of soda and it was FULL of caffeine! i *might* not get much sleep tonight. ;D 1:30am our time and wired..... I will do that. One of the Watsons I am doing has an open panel like the Ken Paul Special. Mongo

Best to you Russ Not to get anyone TOO excited, but I just got a Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland flier. If you've seen Norm's stuff, he just keeps adding stuff without ever re-doing the whole catalog. Imangine my surprise when I found the following in the April 2009 flyer: LIMITED EDITION 1/25 OFFENHAUSER 270/255 - 14 PIECES - $20.00 This is the fuel injected, 4 cylinder racing engine from the 50's and 60's. It was originally offered by Chris Etzel's Speed Classics. Our copy is all resin. Thought some of you might be interested.

Can you post the product number ? None given. There are some other "limited edition" items that also lack a P/N.

Thanks for the info! Last week I called in an order to R & M for some of his 'big and little' Indy tires. I'll call today and have an Offy added to it! Sandy
