Well. I hope they ran a load of tire stagger at the Ontario Motor Speedway that year
coz this thing has plenty built in! LOL.
If you wanna skip the explanatory ramblings just scroll on for the end result.
The Conundrum.
International Rescue came home from her own shift last evening and could see me looking and fiddling and scratching my head
over the body section.
Explained the issue and she just walked out and came back with a sheet of self adhesive vinyl.
Thin, tough and shiny.
Knowing this thing is disproportionate to the real thing I oddly relaxed into it and just went with the force.
I recut the radiator openings to be smaller than what I had to match the actual car and what Lance had done on his transkit.
This vinyl laid on nicely and was trimmed to size on the model
I masked the whole thing up and sprayed the sides up again.
Up in the A.M. and applied my own decals making the numbers just a tad more condensed than normal.
One odd thing was that once all that was done and lacquered it seemed to warp my decals slightly.
Never had that before but it is the first time using Tamiya clear. Time to do some tests.
Should have waited for my order from Indycals. I figured 1/32nd scale Mears winner sheet was good for the side pods.
After lunch I took all the elements and it just all plopped together in no time.
Bit anti-climactic in a way but here ye go.
So much not right with it but it has been a fun build which left the parallel PC 6 build behind somewhat.
The Tires are not fixed to allow for something better than the standard issue.
Will patiently wait for one of the cats to lose a whisker to make the little ariel. Honestly LOL.
If Lance ever does a next gen release then I will go for it. If not I will know what to look for next one I do.
The thought occurred that so many of you probably started your model building days with this AMT PC 6.
Given it is such a kooky job I am amazed so many folk stuck it out and kept on with the hobby.
I can see it might have put a few off but not the resilient.
The word 'fight' was mentioned earlier in the thread with regards to the kit.
I decided this time it was going to be cajole and persude.
I will display this one as a reminder to look at dimensions and element proportions and positions in relation to one another more often.
One last thing before we get back to those mega looking wildcats and the amazing pictures of those upgraded cars.
It occurs that you chaps might be thinking 'eezz a nutter!'
Been wonderfully absorbing for me at this point in time.
Wanted to get so much right whilst it was wrong from the start.
But without getting too heavy I needed something to focus on away from my duties and responsibilities.
Out to work to my tube station almost everyday. Masks, gloves and sanitiser flowing easier than beer.
Just wanted to come home and drop the uniform and take up the glue and the scalpel and the paint and focus on something fun.
I am just glad that I did get caught up in this hobby and that my new found fascination for Indycars has been so diverting.
Cheers fellas. Keep well. Stay safe. Don't chance it.
