I started using Tamiya masking tape yesterday and it is great. Didn't know they even made it. I might a little slow but I will eventually get it. Thanks Guys!

This is the best pin striping tape I have ever used - if you like Tamiya Tape this stuff it basically the same thing! 1mm would be perfect your 1/64 projects. Man, these Testors cans; tiny little things. Is it normal to run thru a can on the car?

What exactly is the process for that, Ralph?
I have the GTS Viper Blue that Testors makes (same paint we used on JR's car this year) and I want to airbrush it. I'm going to attempt to tackle that one, but I wanted to experiment with paint first.

btw -- i dont see one mistake or overspray dude, don't beat yourself up!!!
is the underwing gloss black, or carbon? They make some awesome carbon fiber decal (see Stu's Oriol Servia build thread) that would make this baby look SWEET!
I also have a template now for a decal that can go on the sharkfin (like Andretti does). I can send you the AI template if you like, I think you could slap a yellow decal with Zaxbys or something else on that shark fin and it would look awesome!

Indeed, great work. It's at least not the easiest livery to start with and I don't see any overspray as well.

BTW I don't know if you intended to NOT glue the damper cover down but if you did & it raised a bit here's a tip. After you set in the toe links set the chassis on something so the tires don't touch the table then glue the cover. If not the toe links will lift the cover a bit before the glue dries. I set mine on a small piece of styrofoam.

I'm going to attempt to tackle that one, but I wanted to experiment with paint first. The cans have changed, why I don't know. I used to clamp the cans upside down in my spray booth & in about 20 minutes all the propellant will escape leaving nothing but paint. Then with an awl punch a hole just inside the rim + one on the opposite side for venting, now pour it into a clean spray bottle. WARNING DO NOT stir it until it off gasses or it will foam up all over the place b/c of the gasses. Screw on the lid LOOSELY for several hours until the gas dissipates.> But now they have changed something with the cans. You can't do this now upside down or you'll lose most of the paint. So now I put on a rubber glove & stand there with a plastic cup until it's all sprayed out, takes about 15 minutes, but great pre thinned paint for air brushing. I can paint 4-5 cars with 1 can of paint doing this unless of course it's all one color paint scheme.

Ralph -- I had tried that too (spray right into a bottle) but wasn't sure if that was "OK" or would have chemicals in it that you didn't want in an airbrush paint. I need to do this and eliminate some spray cans taking up space on my shelf.

Kinda spray on the side of the cup when you get quite a bit in or it will splatter & make a mess if you aim at the bottom. You'll lose a little just from the over spray but it will go along way with air brush. Some of the jars with caps they sell don't make a real tight seal so the shelf life is not very long, AND GET THE GLASS JARS the plastic don't take well with solvent paint.

Anyone know where to get some glass paint jars for cheap? Been looking but there has to be good options that don't break the bank.
Michael, there are decanting videos on YouTube. Either you can spray the contents into a cup or you can turn the can over to expel the propellant and then poke a hole in the can to pour out the paint. Always make sure you shake it well first as one how to video left a lot of solids in the can - oops!!

The paint still comes out upside down.

Thanks for the love guys! Not sure what I'll attempt next. I've thought about trying an Ed Carpenter #20 or the actual Ana Beatriz #18 from the 2013 Indy 500.

Decals are pretty close to done for Ed's #20! Gary and I worked on the Conway LBGP set together so it should be quick to add the extra stuff for Indy.

I get mine from Hobby Lobby they're all about the same. The best paint keepers are the ones I empty from House of Kolor with the snap tight lids.
