Here's a shot I took of a small hawk at our bird bath a couple years ago. My wife feeds the quail so the hawks stop by occasionally for the birdy buffet. Paul Erlendson

Here's a few from Colorado. Yes, we have Pelicans in Colorado. Usually they live at the reservoir in Denver, but I've seen them fly by my house. Incidentally, while the mountain goat is wild, they are not native to Colorado - I believe they were introduced in the 1940s. We do have big horn sheep that are native. I've only seen the goats above 13,000 feet, the big horns are usually not quite that high up. I love them all! You have a goofy pic, an interesting pic, and I'm too good to use that human thing! pic. even though its free! - just adjust the black knob.

Paul Erlendson That is very impressive that it would go down to a residential area. (assuming you live in a residential area) There must be no water (pond river) close by?

Speeking of hawks...when I used to live in northeastern Oregon we had a lot of huge Red Tail Hawks. As a little kid I used to spend hours outside, and many hours watching the hawks fly by with rats, snakes, and sometimes poor little bunnies in their talons. But the one thing about hawks is they are always trying to figure out the easiest way to do things, its there way of saving energy. One of the coolest things I would watch them do is use "dirt devils" (miniature dust tornados) as an elevator to get to a higher altitude....They would fly right into the center of these "Dust Devils" and it would shoot them straight up and within a few seconds they would be a good half mile in the sky. I wished I had video of it, because I'd prolly be rich off of YouTube advertisements.

Those are all great pictures. On the goat picture there should be a caption on it reading objects are closer than they appear.

Black rat snakes interrupted while mating wrapped around the door from my kitchen to my garage. Moments later my girlfriend motored up the driveway to find me in the middle of the garage in my slippers holding a broom.

John, SNAKES! Holy Crap! I would have flipped out if I'd opened the door and seen that! A broom? How about a flame thrower or a bazooka! Craig, Probably is some beagle there, but she's much taller than one. The vet thinks she might be a foxhound, but we'll never know. She was a rescue dog from a hoarders house when she was just weeks old. Really, great shots of y'all's real wildlife.

Actually, its quite easy to find out the ancestry of your Eastern Diamondback Muttley. For about $60 there are several places that will do DNA analysis and tell you what breeds your dog is a mix of. I've done it for 3 dogs and its fun--takes about two weeks--and the results are sometimes very surprising. I had an 80 pound mutt that had lots of Jack Russell and Chihuahua in his background. (Also some large dogs of course) Try "Wisdom Panel Insights" on the Web or I think you can get a kit on Ebay. You just swab the dog's mouth.

OMG If I opened a door, and saw that, I would have been ready for a colonoscopy. I would have been completely cleaned out.
