WORK IN PROGRESS...Okay, for some demented reason, finishing the Seller's Novi has inspired me to try to finish Etzel's Speed Classic kit of the Miller 91. It has more parts that a Tamiya F-1 kit, but this is by far a more interesting subject matter. Best to all Russ

Hi Russ, Curious here, what resin model is that tail to tail with the Hertubise model in the upper right of your photo? Sandy

Hi Russ - Great start on the Miller! Keep the WIP pics coming. Winter is almost herre and I'll soon have more time to build. Can't wait! Sandy, Russ can answer for sure but I think the resin car is Johnnie Parsons' 1950 winner.
Later, Brian

Hi ya Sandy...
That's Bill Jorgensen's 1950 Kurtis Kraft Parson's Winner....a future project of mine. Bill did some nice work to get the body accurate. I'm just hoping I'm up to doing it justice.
Best to you
Russ
P.S. - The Hurtubise Watson is an old 1/32 scale Stormbecker slot car I converted and hand panited..it runs too!

Thank ya Russ (and Brian), the Kurtis/Parsons car looks good. I'll have to put that one on my want list of Bill Jorgensen kits. And that Strombecker is really cool. The number and variety of slot cars produced by companies like Strombecker, Cox, Monogram, Revell and others back then is amazing. Sandy

So what was better, the turkey or the car? Answer this when your family can't see what you are writing.

Russ: Great to see the Miller moving forward. I take it that the messages today mean that all is well in cyberspace for you. You had said you were making some changes a couple of days ago. Hope your turkey turned out as good as mine!! Tim

Hi ya Gregg!!!!!!
The day, the turkey and family were fine, thank you....I finally figured out the damned suspension on the Miller!! Chris id excellent kits, but sometimes a bit too involved with little things. Not an easy build, but well worth it once your finished. So the day was totally good!
Best to you
Russ

inspiring pictures , russ! i like how you tease with other stuff in the background of your pictures. you're lucky to have some of chris's work. i tried to win that same miller on ebay but that and a duesie and a fronty all went way past me! i've got a jorgensen miller coming (hopefully) soon so these pictures really help a novice like me! duane

What I got completed yesterday and today....It isn't teasing with showing what's behind...It's called a messy and cluttered work bench which needs to be cleaned. My next project once the Miller's done. Best to you all Russ

Hey Russ! This is going to be one nice model when you get it finished. Hope it is soon. I'm off to PA for a few days to visit my parents so I won't be on the board for a few days. Hope it's finished when I get back. Have a great weekend! Tim

Wow Russ, this is looking great. What paint did you use? Of all the paints out there whats your weapon of choice? Do you think you can ever get Mr Etzel to re-issue some of his kits? I remember seeing them advertised in your MRRN, but I never got any as I didn't think I was up to tackling a full resin kit back then. Sandy

Sandy,
I would love to get my good friend Chris Etzel to re-issue some of his kits, if I could only get him to return a freaking phone call!!!! I can only hope that Bill and Lance keep up the good work. Like I have said many times.....Don't worry about what you don't have, get what you can from the current resin casters and model makers.....Don't get shut out!
Bill does a nice Miller 91, Lance does a current 71 McLaren and a beautiful Watson Conversion....GET THEM NOW! Etzel's Speed Classic should be a lesion for all......You'll never know when these guys get tired and decide to fold up their tent. I tried to warn many before Chris stopped....and now they're singing the blues.
Best to you
Russ

Really good advice Russ, thanks. I'll have to put Bill's Miller on my long term wish list. Yep, thank goodness we've got Bill J and Lance (and Dr Dave too) keeping us supplied with such neat kits. Sandy

I FINISHED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm happy I Finally finished this sucker! All I can say is, the best part of this kit is that it, is finished. Etzel's Speed Classics did some really fine work, I wish the builder was up to the quality of the kit. This one almost had me beat a few times. I started his sucker years ago...try three years ago before my illness....and I just now finished it. The kit is awesome...Almost as good as Lance's kits. I am happy with the way it turned out. Best to everyone.....now I have to clean up my workbench! Russ
