I have found photos of a very nice 1998 Visionaire John Paul Jr. model in my files but I cannot remember who sent those to me. I think this is a resin kit (1/25 ?). Does anyone know who has made this great car and/or if there are decals in 1/18th scale available ? I remember seeing a 1/18th scale conversion. Same guy did a Harrah's Foyt car. Any advise gladly appreciated ! Attachments:

A guy named Joe Baiza in California did it. He has since divorced and does not receive or does not answer emails. This photo you have is a 1/18 conversion of JPs 1998 winner at 2nd Texas.

It does look like Joe's work however this appears to be a 1/25th scale Jorgensen resin kit as this model clearly has wheels and tires from a Revell Reynard kit and it looks just like the 98 G-Force body Bill showed me years ago..

Steve (SWTLYNN) has this car in 1/18th scale made by Joe as I have seen it. I tried to contact Joe some months ago regarding the decals but got no response. I can no longer access his web site either. Joe is a GREAT guy but had fallen on some tough times so I did not press the issue. It would be great to have him here as a member!
Joe did the first ever Camouflage Air National Guard car I had ever seen. The camouflage was made up entirely from decals and it was amazing.

Michael, getting in contact with Joe would be AWESOME. Let him know he is missed.

If it is a 1/25 Jorgenson then I'm quite sure Chris Etzel did it. He got the body from Clay Kemp who started rescribing the panel lines. The build up of this car was on a web site called Methanol...and was in a build diary step by step. Clay Kemp made the decals. The site is no longer around. Etzel never mentioned it was him maintaining the site and the he refered to Clay as Caly. I had a link for years on my site to this site as the build diary was phenomenal.

Indyfan007.....I think I may have sent you the pics or you saw the link on my site....I'm pretty sure as we had a email conversation about who had made the decals.

It's 1/18 and Joe made the decals himself, he has since gotten rid of his ALPS gear. There may be more to report, but I'm not saying anything at this time.

The machined fuel filler looks like the one Chris machined. I'll have to check my file folders to see if if I saved pics of this car....Chris also machine dthe rear wheel flip ups...it sure looks like Chris suspension pieces on the front as well. I'm not convinced it's 1/18. Still looking for the pics of the model but found the artwork Chris created...

These were the suspension components used on the car...Chris used one of his gearboxes from his his Dallara kit...note the axle...similar to the one on the built model above...

There may be two versions, because I have the car John Baiza built in 1/18. So, what difference does it really make? If Michael decides to produce the decals, then he will make them in all different sizes. Right, oh decal guru?!?!?

Right, oh decal guru?!?!? ...well the caption to this subject is "who made this model?"....that's what I was tracking down... I know Marcus and I had some dealings a while back in regards to some decals and he may have seen this car on my website..hence I believed it was Etzel's build. So in that regard it makes a difference to me.

OK, my bad. There is obviously more than one. At this point, it's irrelevant. Nothing personal.

Thanks guys for all the information! Yes- I remember having e-mail exchange with Joe but suddenly he did not reply anymore. However... question is: who has or can make a set of decals ? This is a great car. I guess I'm not the only one who wants it. Michael, what do you think

Joe made his own decals, so getting the artwork from him would be the issue. It's suddenly a popular item!

chris showed me some pics he did several years ago of this car he did using my 98 body. i produced a 98 as a crew member of one of the irl teams promised multiple purchases-which never occured after producing the 97 for him and his friend. chris modified the nose etc.

so i ended up doing 20 built ups for another indy car team w the same body to present at their team 'party' at years end. before i got the last one done, they told me their driver etc has already signed on w another team.....my early experiences w members of these teams were a foreshadowing of things to come for other teams in the league. i had lost interest in the 'upstart' irl at this point seeing how unprofessional they ran their operations and yearned for the return of properly run organizations to indy.
