The Tamiya kit. I started it June 26th and finished it tonight, about 35 - 40 hrs actual work. Basically OOB with some wiring added, seat belts, added and swapped in some braided hose instead of the kit rubber. Indycals decals. I misjudged the nose decals slightly, might be ordering a new set, easy enough fix. Some pix before the seat and bodywork:
The finished product:
Cheers

Nicely done, Paul! That's one of my favorite Tamiya 1/12 kits, a straight forward build but looks really aggressive. I keep meaning to do the plain Jane 1974 Watkins Glen winner, maybe this winter between surgeries!

Looks Great Paul. I have had that very kit for about 20 yrs and haven't got to it. Seeing your build makes me want to drop all the projects going and build that one.

Well Paul, you stole my thunder but I love it none the less. I was about to build this same car for another forums group builds. The reason I picked it to build is because I haven't seen it built for quite some time. Now that you did a terrific job I fell I need to pick another from the stash.
Lovely build, great modeling skills (as always), and nice photos too!

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. If anyone is going to build this car I would recommend getting a set of Michaels decals for sure, I doubt the kit ones would ever work on that nose contour. Michaels are nice and flexible, plus I'm used to working with them!
Now back to trying to scratch build something.

I didn't know the new decals are that bad. I truly expected sales to tank but they haven't. I really need to build one. This was my first ever Tamiya 1/12 over 40 years ago. You did a fantastic job.
