Chaps
Did not feel right putting this in the Indycar section or any other to be honest. Doesn't really fit. But it might be of interest so in misc it goes.
Been on a mental break from white metal and resin. But still felt the need to DO something....
Lego. Inspired by the work I saw online and at the Indycals website gallery.
I guess the real art is making something look right as small as possible. You can make almost anything the bigger it is. But with these it is down to available tire sizes. The T4 is about 1.20th but rear tires are too big. The 86C is about 1.14th but could do with bigger tires at the rear. Only a white star sticker and a sloped red sticker on the engine cover. Kinda diverting though. And slowly finding out about what lets you do what in terms of bits and pieces.
Will try something smaller in time just to push the boundaries a bit.

That's a really good 86C. I recognized it immediately.
I will have to find my Technic IndyCar that I built about 30 years ago. Not a true to chassis representation but it looks like a Z-7 Special.

After being inspired by Quattro's Lego posts last year, I have run across the storage container with my Z-7 Lego IndyCar a few times lately and finally decided to snap a few pics. As a Mears fan with yellow Lego Technic brinks, my inspiration was easy to find. Ultimately, for the amount of bricks that I had, I think the result is pretty good - I certainly tried to incorporate a lot of accurate components even if it is a bit primative. Feels like the Legos might be getting brittle but it is holding together for something I put together around 30 years ago. Jordan

I know back in the day, Indycals made the 1982 Wildcat out of legos. Lol

Love that Pennzoil Special.
We did what we could with what we had and sometimes it is more satisfying than a proper replica.
Brilliant.
Going on with the diversity.....
Mentioned picking up some Fujimi and Union kits from an outlet in Japan on another thread. Added some odd curios to the order.
1/24th scale 'Cyber Formula' Asurada AFK=03 and an Ogre AN21. They are from a racing series anime set in the future. Not! 2019 to 2021 but televised years back. Tyrrell P34s on steroids was how they were described to me by a mate.
In the show from what I can make out they can change configuration from circuit mode to boost mode to aero mode all in one lap depending on track layout, so the kits come in different configurations. Easy to put together but there is an awful lot of masking/spraying to do. And dunno why but baring one particular 'brand' of car they all have a blue and white livery with some details picked out in red.
Messed up the translucent paint on one canopy but other than that they are kinda interesting and diverting. Could not help looking at their shape in comparison to current day F1 and Indy Cars. Just toying with what the creators thought the future would look like compared to what it does actually look like.......
