I first modeled WWI Aurora biplanes...moved on to WWII planes...then got the Aurora Ferrari 250 GTO around 1964...I thought it was the coolest kit of the coolest car...fell in love with the bodywork and wire wheels... Fast forward...The real cars are now worth millions...it is called the most desirable Ferrari of all time...I decided to do a box stock Fujimi for the heck of it...this kit is outstanding!...engine detail is over the top...no added details... Found a great decal sheet at HRM...it will do 6 of these cars including this one... 1962 Nassau Tourist Tropy Winner?...Roger Penske Still have a few things left to do...thanks for looking! Tim

Roger Penske? I do not remember seeing this one before. It was beautiful before I knew the driver and now I like it even more!

Just painted the Fujumi GT40 body I'm working on; I like this Ferrari too. Another one for the list! Great work and didn't realize there was that much engine detail in any of their kits. It's still curbside right?

Roger Penske? I do not remember seeing this one before. It was beautiful before I knew the driver and now I like it even more! Jordan Roger drove almost everything and did it well. A collection of his pre-ownered cars would be a very eclectic mix.

Man...ya can't beat that combo...Penske driving a 250 GTO. Great choice Tim and this is looking VERY good! Like you...the 250 GTO is one of my favorite cars too. I just picked up a Gunze Sanyo high detail 250 gto the other day and seeing your work here...makes me want to drop everything else and start it...LOL... Looking forward to your next update...

I have just a few things left, then outdoor photos... This kit is phenomenal! As to Roger Penske as a driver...he was SCCA driver of the year for 4 years...I can’t find it right now, but I read an article that said he won 1/3 of all SCCA events he entered...Sports Illustrated named him SCCA Driver of the year in 1961...he raced twice in Formula 1...he beat the likes of AJ, Gurney, etc. in sports cars at the Bahamas races and USRRC events... Cars he drove? Porsche’s, from 356 to RSK...Birdcage Maserati...Cooper, Lotus F1...Chevy Grand Sports...Chaparral’s!...the Racing world was shocked when he retired in 1965 to run his own team...during his racing career, he earned a BA from Lehigh...how do you pull that off?..,he is currently worth $1.6 Billion... Door knobs and hood latches left...thanks for stopping by! Tim

Incredible work as always! Would be nice to have the real thing, as its selling above 50 million now? Happy belated birthday and thanks for the history lesson earlier. Learning about 500 history is always great. Here is another super talented builder this board has. It's amazing the talent here. So many gifted builders/creators/designers its always fun to visit and see. Thanks for posting yet another fine build!

I’m calling this done... I finally found something to gripe about with this kit...the hood hinges are probably scale correct, but very flimsy...I ended up just taking it off (after breaking it) so the hood just sits to the side... Jaunjo offered me some after market wheels (thanks!), but I decided that this would be Box stock...check this out: stock with black wash...best plastic wire wheels I have ever seen... This car was sold to Luigi Chinetti, Ferrari’s North American distributor...N.A.R.T.( North American Racing Team) was Chinetti’s Racing arm...the car was shipped to the USA, and run by NART a few times in New England...when Bahamas Speed Weeks loomed, the car was sold to John Mecom,a Texas oilman and racer...it was shipped to the Bahamas and Mecom put stickers over the bottom part of the NART stickers... Look again at the above picture...notice the tiny chrome license plate lights?...this kit doesn’t leave Anything out... No aftermarket parts except VRM decals on the windshield wiper tank, the oil filter (Baldwin), and a firing sequence decal on the front of the engine... Roger Penske was hired by Mecom to drive and he blew everybody away in The Tourist Trophy race that included Porsche’s, Alfa’s,Vettes, Cobras, and even a Ford Galaxie!?! I don’t how to link, but You Tube has “Carnival of Speed “ which shows this race at the 9:00 mark... I will hopefully get the hood on and outside shots today...thanks for stopping by! Tim

Those wheels are trick. As always- a very- very nice piece to any collection. The engine detail really pushes this car.

Last pictures...hood is buttoned down and the car appears as The Captain saw it on December 9, 1962... I was trying to get a picture of the only aftermarket pieces: the photo etch seat belts... There’s a reason this car is so expensive today... Beautiful lines,295 horsepower, race car suspension, and more... This is the view Penske’s competitors saw... Thanks for stopping by... Tim

Tim...what an outstanding build of a very cool car. I also have that kit and those wheels ARE great for being injection molded. I also picked up the Gunze high detail kit with the wire wheels and to tell ya the truth...the Fujimi wheels aren't that bad. Man...it would be cool to own one of these bad boys. But...the insurance would KILL ya!....at least me anyway...LOL
