#14 1967 Coyote Ford A.J.Foyt

Hard to find the superb Lance Sellers kit at reasonable prices, I'll build my own version of the '67 Indy 500 winner, starting with the South Eastern Finecast Lotus 38 white metal kit.



I'll use wheels from Fujimi Ford GT and tires from MPC Olsonite Eagle.



First of all I have to reshape the cockpit, adding white metal by melting. Sanded once is cooled.







Then, I cut down front&rear parts to work the upper body together. Glued with welding cold





Time to reshape fuel caps, rear "wing" after surgical cut and engine cover with epoxy putty.







First primed with Tamiya grey. Upper nose intake is wrong and will be replaced.



Adding more putty and styrene bar to rear and rams covers.



Building cooling intakes with epoxy putty





Working on new fuel caps with aluminium jigs



New upper nose intake with aluminium 0.20 mm sheet glued with welding cold - it's friendly sanded





Front down wing with 0.40 mm styrene sheet. Glued with epoxy putty and sanded. Side nose intakes reshaped too - longer

Wow, this is going to be a fun one to watch! So was the Coyote a Lotus copy? Not sure about the history.

You make building metal kits look so easy! Lots of work and elbow grease here...Jordan: I think it is a Lotus copy...suspension, body work etc, are Lotus...true dimensions( probably changed to better fit AJ as he and Jimmy Clark were very different sizes) and fab work by Foyt’s guys made it a “Coyote”...
Keep up the great work! I can’t wait to see it finished!

Continuing with inside cockpit work. Head rest improved with epoxy putty, parts painted and glued. Whole masked, rear&front suspensions too, and glued to the chassis.







Soldering upper body to the chassis with white metal.



Building side tank with epoxy putty and sanding, much sanding.









Filler cap and pipeline to engine with styrene 0,4 mm sheet and 2,0 mm rod. Side tank edge with 0,2 mm aluminium sheet. Rivets with 0,5 mm rod. Supports of stabilizer bars cut from the kit and glued to the body. Engine panel lines scribbed.









Tamiya white primer applied. Ready for painting.
