Last night I finished the Mercedes-AMG GT3 the team of Yelmer Buurman, Maro Engel, Hubert Haupt, and Dirk Müller drove to fourth place in the 2016 running of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Mercedes swept the top four positions in a dominating performance as the GT3 proved itself in one of the most taxing races on the calendar. I built this car from the new Tamiya kit, which went together with no difficulties whatsoever, everything fit well and the car looks the part. Be advised this is a curbside kit, so there’s no engine, but even without an engine, this car has excellent detail. The car is painted Zero Paints Black Falcon blue, with Studio 27 decals and carbon fiber decals. I’m a big fan of Dirk Müller and I love the GT3, so I knew I wanted to build this car. I had a lot of fun with this one, thanks for looking!

Very nice. How well did the carbon fiber decals fit?

Sharp GT3 build, Jerry. I like it and the colors make for a great model.

Jerry: Always great to see your builds! Calvin is in danger of losing “ the Machine” nickname...the Suddarth Automotive Museum is getting huge... Tim PS: This is current, but I’m working in the past...

Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot.
The carbon fiber decals mostly fit well with the exception of the winglets, there was a slight issue there as the decals were bigger than the winglets, but it wasn’t a huge issue.
The summer months always slow me down a bit with 1860s rules base ball and day trips, so if you think I’m fast now, wait until this winter!

Jerry, Just an impressive build for sure. Your paint looks silky smooth and the decaling as though you painted them on. Joel

Joel From what I can see from your kit build is that you are a very talented modeler. I am not sure why you have doubts about doing resin or any other kits for that matter. You should trust your abilities!

Quality resin I'm fairly confident I can work with it, as I've used small parts in aircraft builds over the years, but white, metal and getting it glued correctly just scares me to death. Joel
