Taking apart a 2003 Scheckter to turn in to a 2000 Montoya. Got the car apart with the exception of removing the rear wing from the gearbox. It appears to be a pin holding it in but wanted to make sure before I take a hammer to anything.

Yes, Carefully punch the pin out to remove the wing. If you damage it beyond re-use, you can replace it by using either paper clip wire (glued) or small aluminum tubing and flare the ends once installed. Good luck!

Looks like Action reused the 2000 chassis mold on Schekter's car. Is that right? 2003 was a actually a different generation of car (IRL started with 3 year cycles) but the diecast looks a lot like JPM's from what I saw on eBay.
Good luck on your conversion. Post pics when you can.

I wasn't looking at it in the best lighting and what I thought was the pin was part of the gearbox mold. So I don't screw this up I just want to confirm the location of the pin. Thanks.

My suggestion would be to use the 2001 Tony Stewart. Use a little Acetone to remove the appropriate markings and repaint the airbox... much simpler!
