I saw pictures of inside the Penske Museum and liked how they displayed their race cars engine cowling for the 1984 Rick Mears winner. So with the help of some fishing line and good old 3M it is a possibility now. Plus I thought it was a good way to display the model and show off the engine detail.

Very cool!
For Indycar & race fans in general, if you are ever in the Phoenix area, this museum is a must.

MJ I was going to go there when I went to the Phoenix race last year, but it's about as far from the track as possible and most of the Museum was at IMS at the time Maybe I'll check it out if I go back to the race this coming season.

Not to derail your thread, but a friend of mine has mounted die cast in shadow boxes. They look great on the wall. I don't know the size of the boxes he uses but three cars fit in each one.
of late I have done the same thing with all my racing pins (and man that thing is heavy, thirty years worth) and concert ticket stubs. (oldest is from August of 1977, Styx and Bob Welch, Indiana State Fairgrounds, on my 15th B'day no less)

Oh yeah. Wasn't there a Roger P display at the Speedway this year? I am hoping to go to the Canepa museum soon (Patrick: I'll be in touch) and noticed on the web site the Penske Javelin was on loan to IMS. I'm hoping to go to Phoenix next year. You're right, it's a loong way from the track, and getting around in Phoenix is awful. Maybe a OWRM car-pool is in order. MJ

A mate and I from Oz are planning to be in Phoenix mid-August next year and the Penske is on our list: anything else car related we should see while we are there? David M Sydney, Straya

I love how you've set up your display! Gonna have to copy whenever I get a display case.
