I don't have a link, but it was reported by Paul Pfanner who publishes Racer Magazine that his friend Bill Alsup was killed in a crane accident near his home in Silverton CO. RIP Bill

I was very sad to find out about Bills passing the other day. Back in the early 80's, I would often send letters out to race teams to see about jobs. This is back in the time when I was just out of high school. Bill was one of the guys who did answer one of my letters in the spring of 1984. He invited me to stay with him and his team to see if we could qualify a X Gallas 83 March. To make a long story short we were a few miles hour and a few dollars short. I could not have thanked him enough for at least giving me an opportunity to be doing something that would become a big part of my life. I could only hope that there all more people out there like Bill Alsup.

What a nice anecdote - thanks for sharing! I never knew or met Alsup, but I understand from all the tributes in various forums and media that he must have been a terrific guy. A sad loss.

Great story Kevin. Amazing how the kindness of someone at an early age can stay with you the rest of your life. RIP Bill.
