In order to stop highjacking poor Calvins JS thread, I thought I'd start my own. I have started my build of the Heller kit and the fit of the sidepods is terrible! There are a few bad sink marks as well. There are also a LOT of ejector pin marks that need getting rid of.

Wow, never seen anybody build one of these. I remember when they came out! I have always, always heard they were difficult to build and needed a ton of work. Neat-O subject however..... these are table queens of the IPMS shows. I believe they are worth more unbuilt!
Thanks for the thread

...I know someday one will just show up, just like pet cats, they just show up.) hahah! tOO TRUE. I went from chasing oe to receiving two almost free.... Nice efort on the WIP. Don't hesitate asking for references if you need. Most important stuff to care of is rounding those upper rocker arm edges, and replacing the tyres... that as a firts idea.

I've been plugging away at this kit and, man, is it rough! I've got the body filled, sanded and ready for primer: I started on the engine and Heller doesn't even give you the injectors, they just have the (black) fuel hose running into the base of the trumpets. I ordered the injector set from RB Motion and installed those. The parts are REALLY tiny! They do look nice however: They look great installed on the trumpets. I have MFH intake mesh on the way, and then I can finish them.

Did the cat open the kit? If so, it should be nice to have another builder in the family. The cat's name, of course, is Ligier? --Frank

Progress has been made, I have finished the basic engine. Fuel lines and intake mesh are from MFH. Ignition wiring are the kit parts.

Way to stick with it!
at this time I have not touched a kit in a couple of weeks. Doing other things as fall roars into reality!

Wow, this turned into a long term build! I have finally finished my build of the JS11. Like Paul said... the instructions are more of a guide on how the finished product should look. If you follow the instruction step by step, you will NOT be able to build this kit. Some steps are wrong, some parts are misnumbered or shown in the wrong place. My advice to any one who has this kit in their stash... throw it away. I was able to use the kit exhaust. I had to modify some of the pipes on both sides. I also found that if you ignore the instructions and let the pipes fall where they may, it's a bit easier to get them to fit. The finished product:

WOW, krank that baby up and take it for spin around the block. That looks fantastic if you would photo shop that on the Indy 500 track I would have thought it was the real deal. Nice build I always loved the color of the cars in the 70's and 80's.

Really nice job Mark. I disagree, I think everyone should build one of these - it makes building anything else seem so much more pleasant! Truthfully, I don't mind Heller kits, they're a dream compared to the IMC Chaparral I'm working on. I'm impressed with your exhausts, no matter what I did they hit the suspension somewhere. And you must admit, that Ligier does look nice on the shelf.
cheers
