I’ve been building Foyts 67 Coyote and decided to post some of my modifications. 1961redlegs and lenwoodruff made great builds and helped me to validate the fit of the parts.
I added some details not in the kit, like the front radiator support and tanks. I wasn’t comfortable fitting the nose on and just gluing the radiator in the nose, it didn’t feel right so I found some photos of various front ends and made some details. Some brass wire bent to the dimensions and soldered at the tips competed the radiator support. I just glued in some styrene together and shaped the tanks. I did lower the rack according to my photo references which changed the spindle set up.
To mount the nose I glued a square of styrene to the bottom of the tub which supported the bottom of the nose and also supported the tanks. I mounted two pins to the top of the nose and corresponding holes to the top of the tub which you can see sticking out. Now I can just push it on although will be prone to chipping the paint. The radiator looks placed backwards but in reality is faces correctly.
I filled in the tub bottom with styrene and worked out installing the seat from the rear after painting the tub. I sanded down bottom of seat so it slid in from the back. I made a firewall from styrene to separate the engine from the interrior. I glued in some styrene strips in the tub to position the painted firewall.
I made the distributor and fuel pump from styrene and they just fit between the firewall and placed engine. I plumbed spark and fuel lines and injector hoses.
I’m working on making the cowl removable so I can show the details of the engine. The cowl can be stretched over the injectors but again makes it prone to chipping, it’s a tight stretch. I had to make a couple modifications. First the sway bar holes need to be filled and the sway bar built from scratch. I’ll post that later. I have a problem with my cowl fitting over the shocks. I don’t see 1961redlegs or lenwoodruff’s builds commenting on a problem, and will just grind away the section marked and repaint the cowl.
