There are some very small speakers in old cell phones! If you're like me, there should be a few now-defunct phones cluttering up your drawers in the kitchen or bathroom? --Frank

Also worked on the Mid-Continent while the blizzard raged. Had to put white decals on first as the orange decals are semi-transparent. Gary provided both. kip

This is really nice.
Could you provide a picture of the opening in the nose?

All but a few decals are on. And. Although I want to smooth out the inside and paint the inside a dark color. kip

Without a doubt you are an excellent model builder. One of the very few who can actually build one of these kits up and make it presentable.
It is out of my scope. No way am I paying for a kit and then spending countless hours reshaping everything. The guys who can build these "kits" are in a very exclusive club.

Thanks for your comments and I appreciate the praise. But much of the reshaping required (the tail and the fuel fillers) is my own fault. It had to be done because the Mid-Continent car was different from the Epperlys that the kit was designed for. I think the Bettenhausen Autolite, the #54 Bryant Marshman, and the #3 Branson Hoover had a tail and fuel fillers that were similar to the kit profiles and locations. I suffer from wanting to build cars that are one-of-a-kind and that usually results in some reshaping. (One of the reasons I love the front engined cars--they're all different) The same thing is true on the 1965 Novi I am building (and the 1964 Tombstone #56 I built from a Sellers' Watson a while back). Mr. Seller's 1963 Novi kit is beyond excellent, but I wanted a one-of-a-kind 1965 Novi and, as a result, I had to cast a new nose, relocate the fuel fillers, add some vents, and have some decals made up. I'm weird I guess, I enjoy it.

You're not weird, just different like the rest of us. We want what we want and try to build it. Some better than others and you prove it. It is just plain fun and it is great that you share so much with us. Jim

Tim
I should have an update in a couple of days (I was finishing up the Novi so this was backburnered for a bit). I've been working on the cockpit. Houndstooth cloth insert in the seat, instruments, frame rails (metal tubing, not the kit resin) etc. Starting on the suspension now. Thanks for looking.

Cockpit is finished. Steering wheel and gauges. Seat with houndstooth decal for the cloth insert. I have been working on the suspension but it’s driving me around the bend. I’m walking away from this one for a week or so. kip

Finished the Branson Mid Continent Securites Spl. that I started back in November 2015. New additions include suspension, wheels, roll bar, nerf bar, exposed rear frame and a few other details. The body is by Gary Doucette (with modifications to the tail as this Epperly had a different tail shape); vacuformed a new bulge on the side to accommodate an engine; the front grill bars are chrome plated copper tubing; wheels and tires from ARM; the suspension is a mixture of scratch built, parts box items and a few of the kit parts. The seat is from my parts box. Decals by GWS. Paint is Belton Molotow Tulip Blue Middle. Houndstooth upholstery is a decal I made myself. And the ARM engine with modifications to make it a laydown (primarily the velocity stacks and the breather). Thanks for looking. kip

It will not be long, Kip, before you can field 33 cars that should have won Indy during the 50's or 60's that we all were rooting for. Glad you finished this in your long list of remarkable one-off cars. We all enjoy seeing how you solve problems that drive me nuts. Thanks for being here. Jim
