Craig: Sure turned out nice...like you I wish I could display cars curbside as well as with the hood open...as I have noted before, probably my favorite kit of all time...Is it correct that Jimmy B. started the cigars to keep his teeth from rattling on the dirt? Perhaps he needed one in this race! Tim

He needed more than a cigar, Tim. From what I have learned, in addition to the pounding he got from the broken suspension, he also wore the skin off his shoulders, and his posterior, moving around to get his toe under the pedal. On a hot, sweaty day, that must have really hurt. He was one tough man.

Sharp looking result here, Craig. Very nicely done and it shows in the finished product. Bet this was a fun car to watch back in its heyday.

He was my first hero in racing. Broke my heart when he died at Langhorne.

Looks great. The seat especially. It's just a cool car with a very long and prestigious history.

Could your hood dilemma could be solved with those small "super magnets" and metal strips? I've used them before to hold engine covers on! --Frank

In the end, the tape worked for what I wanted. There are some true "Master Builders" on our board (we all know who they are), but I'm not one of them. I consider myself average, at best. The magnets may have worked out better, but I'm not sure I could pull it off. We all have different skill, and patience levels. I build for my own enjoyment, and post because I like to share my work, and enjoy what the rest of you are doing. For me, there is no right, or wrong in our hobby, it's all about having a good time. Too often, we get too ambitious and a build ends up going back on the box, and on the shelf. I don't want to do that. I have never built anything that could not be better, I can live with that. If I'm happy with it, that's good enough.

Well said, Craig. I agree with what you have said. The joy is being an open wheel racing fan and the fun is building. I have to admit that I am slow and don't build much but I look forward every day to seeing what everyone is doing. By the way, if you consider yourself average, then I know where that puts me. But, again, that really doesn't matter. Jim

Craig, Stop selling yourself short. We and we alone are are our own toughest critics. Not only have I enjoyed the WIP, but the finished product looks great. Jimmy Bryan, the "Arizona Earth Mover" is truly an Open Wheel legend and you have done him proud. spyder

Thank you, Ed. That means a lot coming from someone I respect as much as you. "Arizona Earth Mover" I had never heard that one before, I love it!
PS, I hope you noticed that I did move the steering wheel.

Yes and we have to put that suggestion in the revised kit instructions. It clearly looks correct as you have it located. What's next on the work bench?

A 1955 Bryan Kuzma roadster, Ed. Dan (raceparke) did a great WIP on the 1956 car, so I won't be doing a WIP on that one. Just a few progress shots, and the finished car. It is an interesting car. Bob Cicconi is also building that one, I guess great minds, or maybe not so great, think alike, First the Miller, now this one.
