 Fast Guide 010We do not have nails any more, we have bitten all them while waiting until April for the arrival of the new Tamiya kit of the Toyota TS050 Hybrid that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year 2018. A kit that promises LOTS of fun and entertainment for everyone, right?  Michèle MoutonNobody doubts that one of the most influential women in the racing world is Michèle Mouton. In her young years she became the most famous and successful rally driver of all time, winning at San Remo, Portugal, Acropolis and Brazil. She also raced at Le Mans in 1975, and in 1985 she climbed the Pikes Peak, where she asserted her status as a champion by setting three milestones in a row: she was the first non-US participant to win the race, she was the first female driver in winning it and she broke the global time record. After announcing the ban on Group B cars, Mouton decided to put an end to her sports career, although she has remained attached to the world of the motor racing, dedicating himself to the complicated task of supervising safety, calendars and regulations of the World Rally Championship, in addition to organizing the Race of Champions. One of the emblematic machines that Michelle drove was the sophisticated Audi Quattro Sport S1, and Reji recreates the decoration used in the 1985 British Midland Ulster Rally to be used in the new Beemax kit or in any of the previously existing resin kits. A wise decision!  DetailingDecalcas has done it again: they have turned the boss speechless once again, the one who is always bragging about having seen it all in the modeling world (haha), and yet today we have seen him eyes wide open, jaw dropped, mouth drooling and with goosebumps all over... The reason is none other than the arrival at SpotModel of the long-awaited detail set that Decalcas has manufactured for the Ford GT Le Mans 2017 by Revell. For a long time we wanted to have a look at it first-person, because the pictures we had seen of Sascha Müller's build looked reaaaally good, and when we had it in our hands it did not disappointed. With a packaging as impeccable as usual on the brand, this new set impresses for detail of the resin parts, especially the diffuser, the wheels and the steering wheel. Gentlemen, stuff this good is not seen every day. The end of this story is more than predictable... once again the boss got missing again (with an unlikely excuse), carrying under his arm both the Revell model and the Decalcas set.  This Way UpIn the world of logistics and warehousing, the message " This Way Up" refers to how the boxes should be placed and stacked to avoid damaging their content, but for us modelers this phrase also carries another meaning, being the name of a prestigious brand of white metal scale models in 1/43 scale of Formula 1 cars.  Ukrainian Scale Car ProductionThere is an expression in Spanish that says "El que la sigue la consigue" (if you persevere, you'll finally get it). It means that whoever wants something, if they work really hard, they will finally achieve it. It is a wonderful phrase that motivates and promises a happy ending to all those who strive every day to fulfill their goals and desires. One of the brands that for many years we've always wanted to carry at SpotModel was Ukrainian Scale Car Production, and after a long time "persevering", we finally got it!!! Yay!!!  Blue StuffIn our tireless effort to put at your disposal all the interesting stuff that is appearing, as far as civilian modeling is concerned, this week we bring good news again.  NikiOne month ago we were all sadly surprised by the news: Niki Lauda, the great Austrian tri-champion Formula 1 driver, left us. His first victory happened in Spain in 1974 behind the wheel of a Ferrari 312 B3, the same one we talked about at SpotModel's blog a while ago.  GT 2019Time goes by really fast... It's been two months since we celebrated the greatest endurance race on the planet, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which like every year had emotions and surprises before, during, and even after the race. One of the sad news this year has been the farewell of the Ford GT to the racetracks, for which the Chip Ganassi Racing team prepared a deserved tribute to the epic sports car, decorating the four cars that took part in the race with the colors and designs they wore when they made history winning the laurels in the 1966, 1967 and 2016 editions at La Sarthe track. A fifth unit, belonging to the Keating Motorsport team and with a beautiful decoration, took the glories in its category, although only for a few hours.  Fireee!!!Who didn't have a car or fire truck as a child...? if you didn't, surely you have dreamed of having one. It is an inevitable attraction, that shows up when we are children but accompanies us throughout our whole life. This attraction has to do, of course, with the admiration aroused in general by firefighters, those heroes that save lives and difficult situations every day, and in the same manner, with the vehicle itself: so magnificent, so red, so shiny, with those many tools and accessories... Italeri has taken a great opportunity and released his Land Rover in firefighter version, including six different decorations from different countries where fire brigades used these fantastic vehicles. You can always customize it, create a diorama (for sure recreating fire will be fun! which technique would you use?), add tools, or modify to any special version you know of, since the model offers you maaaaany possibilities.  i20 WRC 2019Gentlemen, we have very good news from Belkits headquarters: now they finally got the official Hyundai license to manufacture their Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC scale model just as it raced the World Rally Championship on this 2019 season. Yaaaay!! They just made us happy, very happy :-))) At the moment there are no details about the model parts, but the livery will recreate the one used by Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul in their victory at the Tour de Corse, or " CORSICA Line Tour de Corse - Rallye de France" as French speakers say. We still have to wait a few months for the model to arrive at your workbench, so let's better start training our good modeler's patience for the long wait.  FinesseSome of us modelers know that our models are the very very best and that they are waaaaay better built than those of our friends. Without any doubts!!! And those friends are always wondering what is the secret of our fantastic assemblies... very few know, but it is the "finesse". Our models do have the finest finishes and lots of details that, maybe they aren't quite noticeable, but there they are. And that's because there is a difference between just painting a spoiler in plain boring black, and doing it using the carbon pattern decals by Studio27, a subtle difference that tells apart a "plasticus vulgaris" from a "modelus excelentis". Obviously, our models does have these carbon patterns, designed to fit the model like a glove Of course, the Toyota TS050 by Tamiya that we're all building will also use the new carbon pattern decals released by Studio27 we already have available at SpotModel.  RagnottiIt is absolutely unnecessary to introduce Jean Ragnotti, but in case someone was not paying attention we will make a brief presentation: he is a French driver who has raced in rallies, Le Mans, rallycross, tourism, the Dakar... which has always been really fast (counting among his many achievement the conquest of the Monte Carlo Rally in 1981 or the Tour de Corse in 1982 and 1985), that is a cult figure for the Renault brand, and that is one of the most famous and charismatic drivers because, above everything, he is nice, sociable... a great guy, in plain words. We have met him on several occasions and always, every single time he has greeted us, we have talked for a while, and every single time he was planning a new joke. Hats off!Well, this boy, who is already 74 years old, has announced that he's hanging the steering wheel, that he will not race anymore, although he will occasionally show at some exhibitions from time to time. With a bit of luck you can still watch him spinning chained loops with the Renault Maxi Turbo. We wish!! Mmmmmm and, now that he's retired, is he going to start ordering scale models at SpotModel? Who knows!
