  Death fightThey are both European car icons, and they both have very clever low cost designs as well as very innovative at their time. The 4L with its big trunk door and the new sealed cooling system, competing against the 2CV with its 2 cylinder air cooled flat engine and 4 wheels symmetric shock absorbing system. Years later, the duel is still alive, since both models live together at SpotModel warehouse in their scale model forms, by the hands of Ebbro.   DetailsMany modelers wish to achieve such a perfection level that their scale models look like real life miniature vehicles, when everyone looking at them have to rub their eyes and doubt if they have just heard the engine whispering... A fair amount of that magic is achieved through the details. Tubes, wires, rivets, carbon fiber decals... and little by little, and with an insane amount of work, the miracle is finally done ;DThe lads at Komakai certainly know what we love and surprised us with their new issue showing all details about the McLaren F1 GTR Short Tail, although it is also perfect for gaining some inspiration in our builds. The chassis was almost the same, but its V6 engine was much smaller, its aerodinamics were vastly improved, and everything was more compact, becoming a machine that was difficult to tame but, once that obstacle was overcome, it brought enormous glories to the team.   Scratch!!There are some very very brave modelers who do not stop challenge themselves just to see how far they can reach. In our humble opinion, at the top of the pyramid that structure the scale modeler "species", are those who make scratch builds.It is amazing that someone could face the challenge of recreating a single vehicle in scale with just the documentation and photographs he/she could collect, and creating their own parts or investigating until you find existing ones that may be right for the assembly. This is the case of our friend Raymond, who a few weeks ago asked us discreetly for some Tameo F1 tires in 1/24 scale, and then confessed that he will be using them for the curious vehicle you see: the Rhodesian Pookie Mine Sweeper, the only military vehicle in history that has ever used F1 wheels.   Type 77Colin Chapman, Geoff Aldridge and Martin Ogilvie designed the Ford Lotus Type 77 for racing the 1976 Formula 1 Championship, incorporating many differences and technical breakthroughs compared to the outdated cars of previous years, but its pilots were not very happy with its performance claiming that it "felt like a rabid dog...   McLaren 570SA 3800cc V8 engine on the inside (that sounds like celestial music...) located in the center of the chassis makes this McLaren 570S a veeeeeeery fun machine while fast and stable. They say about it that it is "the most afordable of its range" (as if that matters in that range for common mortals... who knows, maybe someday you'll find yourself driving it to the supermarket ;-P The lads at Revell, just like us, prefer not to wait for that moment: they have decided to reproduce it in 1/24 scale for enjoying it today, at least in some way , and the first kits will soon be available at SpotModel.
