Did anybody in Texas know that there was a race tonight? I did not expect a sellout, but the lack of butts in the seats kinda suprised me. Most of us vote with our wallets.

Yeah, I think people want to see that high down force hold it to the inside pack racing.
I was glad to see Ed win and I didn't mind the race but I think they need some tires that will last a bit longer just so they can be more aggressive.

Have always liked this Texas nite race (really like Saturday nite races no matter what). But Texas hasn't been very well attended in the past couple years imo.

They had the sides of the stands closed off. I haven't had a chance to watch it on TV yet but from my seat it looked like a decent crowd. Big Hoss was pretty impressive. Would have been more impressive if they used it prerace for more than constant nascar highlights and official nascar sponsor plugs.

It sure looked empty on TV, Dustin. Even the parking lots looked bare.

They need to throw the gates open, general admission, say $10 and get people in there. They will eat, drink and buy souvenirs. Festival seating at one low price. This is where IMS misses the boat on practice and qualifying days. Volume at a low price is the answer.

I always thought the numbers at TMS were misleading. In 1997, I started going to the IRL races because a family connection had season tickets but only really wanted to the Cup races. Seeing as the Texas requires all season ticket holders to buy the whole year's worth of events (about 10-12 tickets per seat per year), I have always suspected that the requirement of IndyCar tickets to be bought by NASCAR fans who buy season tickets artificially inflates the numbers each year - ie. if IndyCar tickets were only sold to ppl that wanted to go see an IndyCar race, the number in the seats would be much less.
In 2008, the fans around me booed the IndyCar race ending under yellow. IndyCar races have always ended at scheduled distances, never after!? So to me it was a non-issue but the Green-White-Checker NASCAR mindset was the only thing I could think that would be behind the boos.

So, at Texas, you have to buy a season pass?

So, at Texas, you have to buy a season pass? No, you don't have to buy a season pass to see the IndyCar race. They do sell individual race tickets once the season ticket renewal deadline is over. I think TMS does a lot of season ticket and PSL business. My point is not all of those buyers are interested in all types of racing (only the NASCAR) but they have to buy the IndyCar tickets to keep their reserved seats. Jordan
