On Greg's (DukeCador) suggestion, I tried the Shabos and had good results. Obviously you'll have to sand down the raised lettering and that will give you a smooth surface for the transfers. I used a good plastic burnishing tool to make sure the lettering transfered properly. First, make sure you have paper around the dry transfer. This will give you a bit of a "buffer zone" in case the lettering doesn't transfer to the tires. Don't pull the paper up too quickly. If you do it a bit slowly, you should be able to tell if you got all of the lettering material. If some of it didn't come off, carefully replace the transfer back on the tire and re-do the burnishing step.
