I am certainly interested myself given that the previous kits are no longer available. What I see looks great!

I think he's going to do a diorama instead of the '79 car with smoke and flames emitting from the rear trans case.

I think he's going to do a diorama instead of the '79 car with smoke and flames emitting from the rear trans case. Though it all worked out for him (luckiest 500 win ever in '87!) but leaving Jim Hall was not a good career choice at the time for Al Sr. Looks great Rick. If I can scrape up some pre-holiday scratch, I'll be getting one. Is slinging resin easier than scraping mud? :-) MJ

Slingin' the mud was a profitable this year. Slingin' resin is just fun.

Rick,
Just want to check to make sure your kit is based on the former Bill Jorgansen molds. I thought that I had heard that someone had purchased the rights to them. Since I have that kit I just want to make sure that you haven't improved on his original offering. If you have that might peak my interest.
Thanks,
Paul Erlendson

My Chaparral kit arrived Wednesday evening and was very happy with it. Happy enough to bump it ahead of some other projects. My thanks go out to Rick for offering this kit. I'll send some photos first chance I get. This kit is well worth the $85.00 it cost.

Received mine on Christmas Eve mail delivery. Thanks for the great Christmas gift, Rick! It looks great, and should be an easy build. Hope to get it done next year as the special theme in our club contest next year will be resin kits.
Just a question when you have a moment (no hurry): In the instructions you say to attach the front suspension before painting the body, and after painting the body color to then hand paint the suspension pieces black. Is there a particular reason for doing it in that order (other than it being Calvin's preferred method)? Seems to me it would be easier and neater to paint and mount the suspension after the body has been painted. I'm just wondering so that I don't make a mistake out of ignorance.
Thanks again for the great opportunity to build one of the most beautiful Indy cars of all time.
Cameron

Now that does look very very nice. Cameron, With the lower control arm being on the thin side and the general fragility of modern Indy Car front suspensions my experience is that it is better to mount using small amounts of 5-min epoxy rather than CA (super glue). Any over application of epoxy can usually be wiped off and or lightly sanded after curing. You wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly good yellow submarine paint job by doing these secondary operations out of sequence. The suspension parts should be either a matte or flat black paint which are easy to brush on and blend. -Rick
