That Santa Ana body was what brought Chris and I together! It was at a NNL/West show and I HAD to tell him that I thought it look beautiful...remember that Chris? Long ago.

I dont take the color thing too serious, over the years its been debated wat too much I gave up, I always believe any model is a work of art and as such artistic freedom should apply. Many times a slightly different interpretation is refreshing and most times comes when it comes to detail less is more , I see over detailed models that make me cringe and would lean towards a cleaner less detailed version, same with color I would rather see a smooth, well applied paint than a obsession with color not done so well.. just saying... Patrick Yes, I do remember it well, it was the first time I went to Santa Clara and even though the model wasnt done, it still isnt, I thought I would show what could be done with House of Kolor automotive paints, no one was using them at that time..

Some more progress, The front brake hoses are quite prominent on this car, so I will add them. To give them someplace to go, I made calipers for the front rotors. The suspension is installed. Slowly moving on. You all should know that I am not "The Machine" Take Care Craig

Getting close to final assembly. Actually I took these just playing with my new camera. The tank straps, and exhaust clamps are just strips of metal repair tape, some of my favorite stuff. Take Care Craig

Calling this "The Done Eagle" After the 1965 race Dan knew 2 things for sure. Len Terry could design a fast car, and the group of California hot rodders, known as AAR could build a much better car than the Lotus shop could. The 65 car had been rebuilt at AAR and Dan was not pleased with the build quality of the Lotus. Terry was hired to design the first Eagle, so it was similar to the Lotus 38. The Cockpit was made much larger as the Lotus was built around Jim Clark ( look at Dan in the Lotus, he looks like he is driving a pedal car, his top half is sticking out the top), and the tanks were located lower and as close as possible to the CG. That made the Eagle "fatter" than the Lotus. After the 1965 race USAC had proposed cutting the fuel load to 65 gal from 75, so the car had tanks for that number. That did not come to pass. Many of the USAC faithful were running Lotus 29 and 34 cars, which were built to run on gasoline, so USAC allowed external tanks, but said nothing about the tanks not being removable. So the Eagles practiced and qualified without the strap on tanks then put them on for the race. The rule was changed for 67, one small chapter in the Gurney USAC relationship that would someday lead to CART. Dan's Eagle had been fast all month, so he was shooting for at least a front row on pole day. The car was making enough power (there just might have been a little nitro involved) that 3 runs resulted in 3 blown clutches, The team backed it down and qualified on day 2. That did not work out very well, as for Dan 1966 was the Indy 500 feet, he sure did not need the extra tank. Take Care Craig PS Production has ended on the 66 kit. I have a few left, if you would like one, let me know.

When I was a kid, my bed was modeled after the 1974 Olsonite Eagle, complete with slick tires, rear wing, and correct sponsor markings. I knew who Wayne Leary was before I was in kindergarten. I wish we could find any photos of the thing, it was super cool looking back. Scott

I've actually lived in an apartment that had the sticker logo on the underside. Scott
