Who cares I'm doing another WIP thread! I plan on starting on this real soon so why not go ahead and start talking about it! I got Craig Miller / Gary D.'s Eagle kit today! Very cool! It looks like it will be a fun one to build. Thanks Craig for making this happen! This has always been a popular car that has never been done. So pull up a chair, grab a drink and play a little Gin Rummy as we start on Lloyd Ruby's ride from '66!

Does anyone know what the cockpit/tub color might be, usually its bare Aluminum, but not always...

Calvin, It's aluminum in the C1 1/18th scale car but you can't see a lot of it because of the way the seat wraps up on the sides of the cockpit. Stu

I'm quite sure that it is bare alumunum, Calvin. The upholstery and dash panel are black, and the shifter handle is wood. I am doing the Gurney car, but you are much, much faster than I am. My kit is still in the "purple pond". Take Care Craig

Calvin, You are getting a lot more animated in your writing. I like it! Now it's a bit early for my lemonchello, so I'll pour a flagon of milk instead. Begin... Patrick

I thought I would give you an update on the ol' Bardahl Eagle. I'm currently shaping a windscreen buck out of milliput and then Vac Form a windscreen..... I use that cling on saran wrap for a barrier. Then start sanding away....to get the shape needed. The windscreen is pretty much almost there....just need to fine tune it and polish it up..... On race day the car had a larger fuel tank on the side, so once again out comes the milliput for some more sculpting. This is the part were everyone looks at the fuel tank and says...."its hopeless!"

Are you modelling it the way it looked when presented to photographers before carburation day or the way it looked during the race?
Duct tape, like the force, has a light side and a dark side and holds the universe together.

Its kinda hard to see but I got the first test windscreen vac formed - it looks pretty good but I'm sure I'll find something to tweak on it..... Craig gave me permission to sell these vac form windscreens when I'm ready so I'll let everyone know when they will be available. The windscreen will be tall enough if you are doing Gurney's car and plus its kinda hard to see in the pic but it does have the W or V pointed openings in the front....I think they did that to get rid of pressure?

There was a secondary windshield behind that one on the actual car, Calvin. Very much like the Lotus 38. The idea was to catch all the crap on the first one and deflect the air with the second. Len Terry designed both cars, so there are a lot of common features. The secondary shield would be a pain to make and install, so I most likely will not bother. Look real close at the photos and you can see it. I think a decent windshield can be made with the kit parts, but yours will be easier, and more accurate. Take Care Craig

That tank looks great, Calvin. It's going to make installing the suspension a lot more fun.

This looks like a fun build. Ruby was one of my favorites in the '60s and early '70s. Along with Rex Mays, he is one of the best never to win Indy but could and should have more than once times including the time he pulled away while the fueling hose was still connected. I noticed that Dave Laycock is shown as the Chief Mechanic in one of the photos. Dave built some fast cars for Rube. Jim

Done. Thanks Craig for making this car happen. I used Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White, TS-74 Clear Red over TS-39 Mica Red.

Nice work, Calvin. Your windscreens look super, and the tank straps are spot on. No suprise that the first finished kit comes from "the machine" Take Care Craig
