Always wanted to do this car. As a donor car I am using a Carousel 1 1977 AJ Foyt Coyote prototype. Sorry for the fuzzy picture of the donor. Don't know exactly what happened there. Lots of mods to do so here we go. Car is now taken apart and stripped. I will have to morph an Offy engine in place of the Foyt V8 but lots to do before that. Below is the goal!

One thing I love about this era is all the weird aero configs that showed up. Should stick out in your collection with the extra front wings!

1st body mod is the make the curved body section on the Foyt donor, straight for the Wildcat. I wanted to re-use the vent from the Foyt donor so I cut it out and inserted it into my side pod sheet plastic. Will use filler to make everything smooth.

I never was a fan of AJ's car but liked the Wildcat. Must be the color scheme.

Actually JB Weld Quik! Works great for holding parts in place and sands easy. Glazing Icing is over top.

Finally got back on this but discovered I made a mistake and it was a biggie. Fixable but setting me back a bit. I went to paint the back half of the car blue but discovered that my front edge blue line would extend to far forward on the cockpit cover and I would not have room to place the North American Van Lines logo on the cockpit. I got to looking closer at the Wildcat verses the Coyote donor car and discovered that Johncock's Wildcat cockpit is longer than the Coyote. Because of this, the cockpit on Johncock'e car also extends farther that Foyt's and runs up under the add on front wing. My only option was to cut the cockpit in half and move it forward. I will have to change the cockpit mounts, fill the large gap and paint the white all over again. But, this is the only way I can make the car correct so you do what ya gotta do.

That was some major surgery. Scary stuff but worth it to make it accurate, not just a suggestion of the real car.

After looking back at the photo of the real car you're cowl mod will be well worth it. I will be very interested in how you get some strength back in the cowl after the cut.

I think you guys must of fell off your bikes too many times when you were little kids to try this stuff. You set higher and higher bars with stuff like this. Great job and looking forward to seeing this one completed.
