I feel sorry for my 1951 Winner, I haven't touched it in very long time so I'll give it a WIP thread for it. I'd like to dig into full bore, but I have these other projects that are more important right now....but it wouldn't hurt to put some color on it soon.

Looking Good, Calvin. This is what TS55 looks like in daylight. If the 51 winner in the museum is the correct color, this is as close as you are going to get IMO. Take Care Craig

Last night I was thinking TS-51 was maybe the way to go, Michael P. did his in TS-51.....but yours in TS55 is defiantly close as well , for sure close to the museum car.....I dont know but the older pics look more between TS-51 and TS-55...... I could go back and forth for ever on blue paint..... Blue is the hardest color to figure out.

After many hours of looking at pictures and talking with friends I made my final decision on color choice. Tamiya TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue Right or Wrong I have no idea? But all I can say is I think it looks great! I always felt the car in the Muesum is too dark because it seems to me the car on race day back in 1951 always looks lighter in the shade of blue, but who knows...blue is one of those hard colors to get right from pics. I dont have any 2nd thoughts on my color choice. It took many shots to get the blue as close to what I see in real life.

That looks really good and will look great once decals are applied. Especially the gold scallop numbers.

Ouch that makes my eyes hurt. Very nice work so far on this one. Although both models look great I do like the blue Calvin used just a tick better. It really is your own preference when it comes to tying to match up paint. Great looking models. Is this the only number 99 winner? A little trivia here. If Greg Moore could have had his chance I am sure there would have been a more recent #99 winner.

Is this the only number 99 winner? A little trivia here. If Greg Moore could have had his chance I am sure there would have been a more recent #99 winner. This is the only Indy 500 win by a car #99. www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com:8080/var/assets/stats/500/car-number-history-race-winners.pdf
Would Greg have run #99 with Team Penske? I don't know. Maybe some guys here with friends that worked at Penske at the time would know. I know the Penske Moore tributes I have seen use #99 but is that based on fact or artistic license? Also, at Indy Sam Schmidt runs the #99 and has since the 90s so if Greg had survived, they would have had to work something out with Sam for him to run that number. So, you see.... I've asked myself that same question.... So, Calvin you couldn't decide between TS51 and TS55 so you split the difference?? LOL Jordan

I was wondering how you were going to get to 10 in two more weeks but I'd forgotten about this one. Nice job buttoning it up. With the body and interior so dark, the gold, silver, and yellow really makes the thing pop.

The last picture in this thread is what it looked like at 7 PM last night. I shouldn't have any trouble getting 2 more done - I have lots of kits that are started that are half way....I even have some from a long time ago that are started that I don't even have a WIP thread for yet....

Nice build. I really like the simplicity of the color scheme that draws the eye. You would think of today's modern graphics that we could get some to rival this. Clavin, you sure can build them. I envy you especially the part about being able to stay up past 9:00 p.m. My best, Jim

I envy you especially the part about being able to stay up past 9:00 p.m. My best, Jim Thanks! 9pm is not that late at all! I really don't have a bed time...last night it was 10pm but the night before it was 3 am.....so I'm very inconsistent.
