I have to wonder whether this a PR move by the speedway to generate more interest.

Oh snap Mark Miles to make major announcement Friday 10:30ET....
Also I would so welcome PT back to Indycar! He did not get the proper send off so this could be his farewell drive.

Indycar removed the logo I was linking from them. Here it is, I saved it (thankfully) this morning. I prefer this version. And I didn't mind the mouthful BPTCCWSPBF. It was a nice enough logo, too, the orange arrow motif was interesting. I like Verizon, it is probably the best IRL sponsor yet (my opinion). Izod was okay but it seemed like an odd pairing to me. I think they used the series and drivers to up their marketplace value. [rant size=small]An IMS T-shirt I got during this era has like 37 or somesuch on the back which seems to corresponds to Izod not IMS.[/rant] Jordan

It was announced today that Jim Nabors final time to sing "Back Home Again in Indiana" will be this year... Jordan I was going to mention this until I saw your post. Jim started singing "Back Home" in 1972 and only missed two years with health issues. A real icon to the 500 and will truly missed. Paul Erlendson

www.indycar.com/News/2014/04/4-10-Lazier-enters-Indy-500Not surprising to see Buddy back again with the Dallara Chevy package. Hopefully their extended preparations help them make a better run at the 500 this year. So now we have the 6 previous winners in the 500 (Jacques, Buddy, Juan, Helio, Scott, and Tony). Jordan

This is my tentative list of entries for the Indy 500. I have 30 drivers at this point, since I missed the Martin Plowman for AJ Foyt annoucement earlier this year. There are no Pather, Dreyer & Reinbold, or Dragon cars confirmed though I *think* the first two have entries filed.
#2 Juan Pablo Montoya - Team Penske #3 Helio Castroneves - Team Penske #5 Jacques Villeneuve - Schmidt Peterson #6 Townsend Bell - KV Racing #7 Mikhail Aleshin - Schmidt Peterson #8 Ryan Briscoe - Ganassi Racing #9 Scott Dixon - Ganassi Racing #10 Tony Kanaan - Ganassi Racing #11 Sébastien Bourdais - KV Racing #12 Will Power - Team Penske #14 Takuma Sato- AJ Foyt #15 Graham Rahal - Rahal Letterman #16 Oriol Servia - Rahal Letterman #17 Sebastian Saavedra - KV Racing #18 Carlos Huertas - Dale Coyne #19 Justin Wilson - Dale Coyne #20 Ed Carpenter - Ed Carpenter Racing #21 JR Hildebrand - Ed Carpenter Racing #25 Marco Andretti - Andretti Autosport #26 Kurt Busch - Andretti Autosport #27 James Hinchcliff - Andretti Autosport #28 Ryan Hunter-Reay - Andretti Autosport #34 Carlos Munoz - Andretti Autosport #41 Martin Plowman - AJ Foyt #67 Josef Newgarden - Sarah Fisher Hartman #68 Alex Tagliani - Sarah Fisher Hartman #77 Simon Pagenaud - Schmidt Peterson #83 Charlie Kimball - Ganassi Racing #91 Buddy Lazier - Lazier #98 Jack Hawksworth - Bryan Herta Autosport

Another qualifying revision. I don't think multiple revisions give a good impression of the ICS management (even though I am pro-Walker). www.indycar.com/News/2014/04/4-14-INDYCAR_adds-INdy-500-practice-sessionAs best I could understand it from skimming over the articles is this makes positions 31-33 on Saturday provisional. On Sunday, those three plus anyone not yet qualified will qualify to see who fills the last row. Oh and everyone gets another day of practice after qualifications to work on race setups. Jordan

Kurt Busch shows off Indy 500 paint scheme, never heard of the company before. From the looks of it, I see no crossover sponsors like Haas, etc from his Cup car.

Jordan When Chip jumped ship to The bowtie, Honda was left with no front line teams. Andretti is getting major bucks to run Honda power, so they can lower the cost of sponsorship and get sponsors on board who could no way afford the "normal" cost of doing business in Indycar.

Here's the other Coyne entry we talked about last month I guess...
Nice to see Pippa in again and the sponsor is a very high-profile one so that's a nice addition to the 500.
