National Guard sponsorship is moving from Panther to Rahal.

Being a Rahal fan I hope Hinch goes with R/L/L. I also hope that if that's the case R/L/L can put a good car under him.

I hope so too! This season they were awful. I have never been a Rahal fan but I am a Hinchcliffe fan.

That's a step up, not a big one but another move up the grid I think.

Reports are that Dario is retiring effective immediately.... WOW! If this is true then this is big news, right up there with JPM & Penske. So that means Chip needs a wheelman, right?

I hate to see Dario's career end this way. He's a personality Indycar really doesn't need to loose.

Do you think Tony will get the other Target ride? To bad for Dario but I don't blame him for calling it quits. It is not worth the risk when you are talking about one more blow could end it all. Kind of like a doctor telling a prized fighter to give up fighting or one more blow to the head could end it. He will be missed.

I'm not real suprised by that news. I don't think Dario has really been the same since we lost Dan Weldon. Take Care Craig

All things considered with how brutal that Houston crash was, I have to wonder if Moore and Wheldon in the great beyond helped to make sure Dario didn't end up any worse off than he did. Besides, his personality will still be around even if he isn't going to take a DW12 out for a spin any longer. Personally, I would rather admire a living driver who has retired than mourn another dead one as I've seen so many pass on in the past 20 years (Moore, Krosnoff, Senna, Kulwicki, Allison, Bonnett etc...). Besides, Jackie Stewart got out of the cockpit in HIS prime and he's still with us teaching the next generation how to race.

I read in the newspaper this morning that Sam Hornish Jr has been offered the #10 ride for next year, and has turned it down. Kind of a "been there, done that" thing. Not much positive news coming out of Indycar IMO. Take Care Craig

Sam turning down the 10 car could be a loyalty thing with RP. I would think if Sam wanted to go open wheel again he'd go with The Captain

Could be, John. I think that Sam would have Roger's blessing if he wanted to go with Chip. I think that he has no interest is what Indycar has become. I don't think Sam minds an occasional road course, but he is an oval track racer at heart. With the current schedule, he could never be what he once was. Take Care Craig

That's a good point. Also the only thing he really has left to prove in open wheel is that he can road race, and he's smart enough to know it may prove to be a hill to steep to climb at this point. I find it fascinating that with all Rick Mears accomplished there's still that over hanging albeit false knock on his road racing ability.

I believe I read that Sam left IndyCar over safety concerns and I doubt filling a seat where the driver suffered a career ending injury would sound that great given why he left.

You heard it hear first!!
Paul di Resta - Yes, Dario's cousin replaces him!
OK, I just pulled that out of my butt, but (he he!) they mentioned on the USGP broadcast that he may not be returning to Force India. It's a thought.

If you could get a sample of Paul and Dario's DNA, synthesized it, sequenced it, amplified it, then cloned it...would you end up with Dario Resta the 1916 Indy 500 winner?

There are a lot of movement around F1 and money is tight, drivers with budgets are getting the best seats. It seems that Adrian Sutil and Sergio Perez will get the Force India seats so no room for Di Resta.

**edit* Another big domino falls for 2014 as Ryan Briscoe signs to be the fourth Ganassi wheel-man. In an interesting twist, Briscoe takes the #8 NTT car that TK was supposed to run in 2014 and TK moves the the #10.

So, Chip gets a Penske driver, and Roger gets a Ganassi driver. I'm not too sure that either of them will really fit in. Starting to look like a Soap Opera.

Nice to see Oriol getting a ride. Oriol's always been a really good driver but rarely a winner, it will be interesting to see what Bobby can do to help RLL get some wins in 2014. Jordan

I will just respectfully agree to disagree with that sentiment. I've never been a big fan of the IRL car specs but, to me, this is certainly their best package to date. I do still wish there was more power, less tire, and less downforce.
