The upholstery snaps and body fastners are added. The seat and shifter are in. The suspension links are in and trimmed. It would be very possible to install working suspension on one of these, but not this one. The exhaust is mounted. The grill is installed. Unless something bad happens, I think this one will be finished before the deadline. Take Care Craig

The car is finished, with a few days to spare. After several attempts a making my own knock offs on my other Kurtis builds, I gave up. These are Detail Master DM2290. The brake hoses are just fishing line painted black. This car would not be possible without the work of Michael at Indycals, and the wheels/tires and conversion kit from Tim Jones, thank you both. Jack McGrath ran 8 Indy 500's and started 6 from the front row. In 1955 Pole Day was so windy that only 2 cars made a run. McGrath was the fastest car in the field, but started outside row 1. He took the lead at the start and was soon joined by Vukovich. They had a great battle for many laps. McGrath's car started smoking early in the race and he stopped on lap 54. He said later that he had set the rings too loose. The official reason for his retirement was magneto trouble, so the mag failed or the plugs were so oil fouled that they would no longer fire, whatever. McGrath hopped out of the car and started to remove the plugs. While he was working on the car Vukovich crashed. The last race in 1955 was at Phoenix and McGrath said it would be his last dirt track race, sadly he was correct. Thanks for looking. Take Care Craig

Thanks again for doing this and sharing it with all of us. I did a conversion a few years ago of McGrath's 1954 car. It is not a nice as yours. I appreciated your historical comments too. I saw my first race in 1953 and was there in 1955. A sad day and to realize now that we would lose Jack too in just a short while. Racing was hard then. My best, Jim
