This has been a HIGHLY requested car over the last 10-15 years and the opportunity is finally here. However, due to lack of orders (only 12 so far) this project is in serious jeopardy. As a result Lance has announced that he is shutting down his business. This is not an idle threat - he has medical bills to pay and his kits are financed through pre-orders. Right now he is planning to refund said pre-orders, which will add to his burden right now - it is in his best interest if he could proceed with the PC9B but he needs at least 20 more orders (he only has 12 right now). I told him that if he can get at least ten more, that I will make up the difference to get him to 20 with the understanding that I will re-sell them later. We have a community of over 500 Indy car model builders here - surely this is a must have for your collection. So the bottom line - you can get them now for the bargain price of $105, or you can wait and pay more later (or not at all if not enough orders come in). www.lsresincars.com

Guys, Lance and a few others provide a great service to us modelers- excellent resin kits of cars the major plastic companies ARE NEVER GOING TO PRODUCE. Casting a resin kit is a hard, time consuming and expensive process. We have to support these people willing to do this with our purchases. Sure, these are very difficult economic times. I have a daughter in college and one in high school along with mortgage and insurance payments like all of us. And sure, these kits arn't cheap, but who among us a few years back ever thought we'd have a PC9B kit or some of the Novis or the Thompson roller skate. Thats just some of Lance's, with Cal, Kevin, Rick and Gary producing others. I'm not kidding and I'm not embarrassed to say I finance most of my resin kit purchases by 1) everyday tossing my loose change in an old coffee can- you'd be surprised how quickly it adds up, 2) cutting out junk purchases like coffee and donut stops at the local 7-11 (this WAS hard) and putting the money in the can, 3) cutting back on buying plastic kits I know I'll never build- those spur of the moment purchases 4) selling as needed some of the 'shelf queens' that will never get built at the local club meetings. Like Michael has said, theres a lot of Indy modelers here. We should be supporting these kit producers and their hard work. If you've holding back because you've never built a resin kit-don't. They're not hard, really. I've built plastic kits that were harder to get together. Ever build any of the east European airplane kits?!? Plus theres plenty of guys here that will walk you through it. We can support the resin guys or sit around saying, "Dang, I wish there was a kit of a ...".

Anyone can finance their resin kit purchases by buying two and hanging on to one to sell when it's not available. It may take a bit to get the ball in motion, but once you start doing it, the next time one comes out that you want, sell one of your extras - if you can get double the price you have the money to buy two more of the new kit.

Michael, when do orders need to be in by? I'm going to have enough money to send in my order for two this weekend. If you need me to, I can work on selling some stuff and buy a few more of these to help get these run. Email me if you want.
C'mon guys. It is a great deal and you will not be disappointed in Lance's work.

sad day for Indy Car modeling. I'm happy that I got my order in for the Mickey Thompson but sad that I'll not be placing my order for the 46-47 Novi that Lance had hoped to release next year.
personally, I think things are just 'tight' and have been for a while. at least they have been for me. while I know I have some interest in the PC and the 80 Eagle, right now I just can't justify the expense. my wife would seriously kill me. we need so many things right now so getting more models is at the bottom of my priority list. I've been selling off some of my diecast and other models on ebay the past few months to cover the expense of what I've ordered from Lance. I really don't have too many more items that I'm not attached to, to sell.
maybe part of the problem IS some collectors wanting the 1/18th diecast over quality resin, but I think in general its just the economy. I believe its getting better.......its just going to take a while.

Good to see censorship is still good and alive here This board isn't the place to bash people. Period. If people want 1/18 that is what is great about America. If you want 1/25 like me, it is time to pony up. Putting down 1/18 doesn't make 1/25 preferred. Jordan

Feel free to point out any oversights but let's not derail here. We need to support Lance or he will go the way of Hostess.

I'll pony up. I said I'd buy one a while ago. I wasn't aware they were already available. Can we still order these on Lance's web site?

Lance's website doesn't have the '80 Eagle on it, is this project done? Michael's idea of buying an extra kit to pay for another one later is a good one. On occasion I have bought two kits with the thought of trading off the second one for an older resin kit I missed out on. What I'm encouraging people to do is not buy something they don't need, or want, but if you like it, think you might do something with it, don't hold back. Get it while it's available, before it goes on ebay and hopefully there be more kits to come.

One word to Lance...PAYPAL Just an interesting tidbit that I've experienced with my sales is out of all of the kits I've sold (around a 140 - give or take) only TWO people have NOT payed with paypal and did M/O's instead. The funny thing is prefer check or M/O's just because...........well you know.

PayPal is a fantastic payment method. I always use it, mostly because it fills out all of my shipping/billing info and will buy from merchants that accept PayPal over others that don't. I use PayPal for any credit card processing for Peters Motorsports Designs and it's been excellent.

I agree with the PayPal idea. even if offered the alternative of using one of my credit cards for online purchases, I still prefer to use PayPal. I've even passed on purchases because the site DIDN'T offer PayPal as a payment option.

Paypal would make it easier as I haven't used checks in over three years. I would order one this very second in fact if Lance accepted it.
So, I will go to the bank withdrawl the money and then go to Meijers and get a money order. (Because it's cheaper than the bank) Then I will drive to the post office and send Lance the money that he will get in two to three days. We are talking 30 minutes at the very least to do all this when Lance could be paid in 30 seconds otherwise. Just saying...
But I will do this today. My money order will be in the mail this afternoon.

Something else that might help would be to sell on ebay. I was talking with Duane-racerbrown this morning and this idea came up. It would expose his kits to a lot more modelers, repeat- a lot more. With this AND quick and relatively painless payment through paypal there would be some more sales.

There's at least one IT mind here (me!), as well, who could help implement this.

I had one Penske & one Eagle on order, and instead of taking a refund on the Eagle, I changed the Penske order to 2. Hopefully this will help Lance get to the minimum required number. The hobby and the Indy car modelers can't afford to lose Lance, Hang in there Lance!

I am sorry to hear that Lance is having troubles. I ordered two Penske's. I agree that if Lance would accept Paypal, he would see more sales. He also seems to make only the amount of kits that are pre-ordered. I think if he were to make extra kits and put them on eBay, he could sell more kits. I'm sure there are members here who are willing to help Lance however they can. I would be willing to help however I could.

Sandy, I agree. Lance needs to extend his exposure to everyone, not just the guys on the forum. There's a guy from England selling cars on E Bay made from the old Formula Canada masters and he seems to be doing well with them. I'm sure someone can help Lance set himself up for this.

I agree the exposure would be much greater. The problem is the 20% that Ebay/Paypal take on the sale and shipping.

The great thing about paypal is that if you don't have the funds in your paypal account or checking account, you can divert the payment to come from your credit card. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think this affects the seller cost wise.
Yes, Lance will see his profits nipped a bit using paypal but if he increased his selling price by $5 it would cover this cost and then some.
Now, I am not telling everyone to go into dept and use their credit card. I am just saying that it is an option that you wouldn't have other wise. Many times there has been something I just had to have but didn't have the money. I used my credit card thru paypal and worried about paying the credit card bill later rather than risk losing out on the item altogether.
