Perhaps I've asked before, but does anyone make decals for this McLaren? Regga was one of the nice guys of F1 and I have his 312 B3 in 1/24. Nice together, no.

I purchased a model of this car about 10 years ago. It was basically a re-boxed copy of the AMT M-16C. The decals were in bad shape. So I sent them to Michael hoping that some day they would be used as reference for an Indycal sheet. He probably still has them. Rusty

That sheet is far better than the one that came in the kit. The one that came with the model had about 5 decals. Rusty

I guess people figure most won't do anything about it. MJ He's been doing it for years when I did Nascar stuff he copied all of that he's also done it to Michael@Indycals Bill Jorgensen, JWTBM, Slixx and many others This isn't a secret it's been know for years he does this but yet people who know continue to support him it's pretty sad IMHO MB

Also if Michael@indycals wants the artwork file I did for the Mears car and wants to make a Reggazoni sheet available for all I would gladly email it to him at no charge

Pattos is famous for borrowing artwork. Some of his sheets are clearly scans of other peoples work. The quality of printing is excellent but the quality of the artwork varies greatly.

Out of the blue this project came screaming at me. I've had The decal set for this car, but no major push. Well, I seem to focus my builds by marque, Ferrari, then Matra, Lotus...well I'M now doing three McLarens at one time. Now on the assembly station is a M23 F1, a M16C Indy, and a M2A F1. This is about the Reggazoni car... This project started as a glue bomb Frankenstein, parts from this model , engine from that model! one part I didn't have was the rear bulkhead, so I cut some plastic and glued them into place... with the engine and front chassis two major components I will be able to get everything leveled out. The interior is interesting... Patrick

I really need to do that sheet one of these days. I'm always glad to see someone do a Regazzoni car.

You may have still been living in Michigan at the time. I found a really obscure version of the AMT M16 that had been reboxed for the Reggi Indy car. When I got the kit it was in OK shape but the decals were yellowed and in pretty rough shape. I figured that these would make a good starting point for an Indycals decal sheet for the car. Rusty

I really need to do that sheet one of these days. And the sheet could be a multi-driver one. I seem to remember some hot shoe from Bakersfield running this car in similar livery. Patrick, it looks great so far, cannot wait to see it progress. Jordan

Wow! Almost two years have passed since I last posted here. Well, I pulled it out again and decided to just finish it. images56.fotki.com/v362/photos/2/1465922/9735424/P1010041-vi.jpgSometimes working a Frankenstein of a glue bomb can be a pain. The glue bomb had the wrong injection system and I placed the turbo too far back. I'll mickey mouse one closer to the real thing. Another thing I noticed is my wheel choice seems incorrect, but I usually don't mess up that bad...well maybe once in awhile. I'll have to check my old research photos. Patrick

Clay was so freakin' lucky to not be injured in that accident. His name showing up on the entry list made me super excited. Most of the pole smokers here in America had no idea who this guy was. Yip had a pair of McLarens and Clay practiced quite a bit in them. Was Danny O's rookie year as well, so you had two guys who were not afraid to die running practice laps. Were talking see Jesus on entry to turn one, and really, really low.
After he wadded this car up they crushed it into a cube and left it sitting outside their garage in Gasoline Ally for all to see. Pretty funny. Guess the car was goofy and never handled properly. Andretti had it at Penske's and said the same thing.
Clay went through the field on race day like a scalded dog. He was moe docking. It didn't take long until his day was over. I was sitting on the exit of turn four and he was late coming by. Here he comes, just creeping along with his arm in the air to warn others of his lack of pace.
It was pretty easy to tell that both Regazzoni and Ongias were "chargers." Danny was also a factor in the '77 race early. These types of drivers were always my favorites. It always kills me to see people criticizing Ongias for crashing. Most would wet their pants north of 100 mph. Danny and Clay, the stars of the first 30 laps of the 1977 Indy 500!

So, after going back over my resources I had to go back and update the turbo system and adjust the piping... So it finally got on all fours... and the nose went on with those beautiful yellow wings...just sets the car off... only the rear wing to go now! Patrick

This is looking really good. It's always neat to see someone else's workbench with a variety of subjects- cars, planes and ships.
