Well, first race with the new cars is in the books. Shout out to James Hinchcliffe for poking fun at Danica mania and Go Daddy in his own way with that goofy wig. I love the new nickname he was given.... Manica... half man, half Danica. ;D ;D Of course if "Manica" gets the Go Daddy car to victory lane, even better! Anything is possible with these new cars since everyone is learning. Well, they talked about the clean racing and I kind of chalk that up to post Las Vegas jitters. Everyone in the field still remembered that carnage, so things looked pretty clean. But I also chalk it up to drivers trying to sort out these new cars as well, so no sense making banzai moves in a car when the first two or three races (and Indy) amount to a competative test session. I have a feeling once drivers figure out what these new mounts will do, then there will be some boneheaded moves made again. To me, the new cars looked great on the track. Racing was okay, but as I said I chalk that up to teams figuring the rides out. Hopefully things get more interesting (the good kind). I did chuckle a bit though when safety workers would take steering wheels off crashed cars to get the drivers out and when they tried to put them on the curvey sidepods (thinking they were like the old sidepods) they would slide off. Looks like they are still figuring out the new cars as well. Helio's fence climb tribute on "Dan Wheldon Way" was a very nice touch. Glad he got the win and glad he got to do something which was unique.

Helio is always the showman, but I agree that was a nice touch.
I thought it was a pretty entertaining race, even though my favorites (Power, TK, Rubino) didn't do well. I thought the cars looked good, except for the front 3/4 view. I do think someone looking at an Indycar race for the first time would think the cars look pretty zoomy. In a good way.
Finally, racing is here! MJ
