I started this WIP several months ago. I realized I need to get my procedures typed out before I forget what I did. Well, as most of you know. The old AMT Eagle BRICK! Bricks didn't race at the Brickyard! I've built this car below many years ago....it was my 3rd Indycar build. Even back then I knew its was totally wrong. So I modified the nose, wing, and started to scratch built the oil cooler. (which ironically I plan on using on this new WIP! But since then I've realized many other things that can improve this poor kit. So here we go again!

Well, the first thing that needs to be addressed is the height issue with this kit. Take a pencil and use the floor pan as a guide to mark the bottom of the new tub. Then cut the bottom off with a razor saw and then sand the rest down level.

Just in time, I just pulled one of these kits out of the paint stripper. Anticipating the progress.

Good start on a very interesting WIP. Has there been any more progress?

Well, I was a little bit interested in this WIP, but I just pulled out my box of Eagle parts and built-ups and found that rather than the 3 complete cars I was sure of , I actually have enought parts for FIVE and only lack a very few parts from having a 6th! So, with all the new Eagle decals recently available, I'm going to try to adapt Calvin's methods to some '73 & '74 cars! Please keep going, Calvin!

Has there been any more progress? Nope, I have too many other things going on right now. I never find time to build cars that I actually like.

Brian The thing about this build is its going to be high detailed with removable cowling and detailed dash area.

With Michael's '74 Viceroy decals I am going to take a shot at the Eagle. Not to have you get ahead of yourself, Calvin, but I assume you will be flattening out the front of the cockpit. Is your plan (or anyone else who has done this) to simply cut out a portion under the windshield and mold in a flat piece of styrene or am I am overimplifying it?
Thanks,
Beans

I've started a cowl like that, Beans. It's not as easy as it looks. I think I'm going to have to go back along the sides of the opening to take some of the curve there out, too.

I'll show you guys, but I'll be a while before I get to it - after I'm done showing you it will be 100% accurate, well maybe 97.098% accurate. The hard part will be just explaining it. I might just make a cutout template or something like that?

Thanks, Calvin. Looking forward to it. I'll wait. Ironically, last night about the time you posted this I asked my daughter what model I should do next. She said, "the Wildcat."
We'll do the kitty first and then the bird.

I forgot about this one. It has come a long way in only 3 years. Too much TV?

Too much TV? Maybe as I do watch every race of Indycar, Nascar, F1, NHRA, H1, and more....... but usually finish 15 kits a year......

I usually buy at least 15 a year, does that count? This is a hard one to comment on....maybe I shouldn't say anything bad about you anymore as you are keeping all the resin builders going.
